HUMSS STUDENTS PROVIDE AID TO THE ELDERLY

Last March 25, 2022, the Grade 11 HUMSS students held a community assistance program entitled “Handog ng mga Apo: An Outreach Program for the Lolo’t Lola at the Missionaries of Charity'' to reach out to selected elderly folks of Missionaries of Charity (Home for the Aged). 

Through a performance task in the course Community Engagement Solidarity and Citizenship (CESC) under the supervision of HUMSS teacher Mr. Harold Leobrera, the students have fulfilled their civic duties by extending in-kind donations to the Missionaries of Charity elders. Thanks to the contributions of students, affiliated and unaffiliated members of PCC-Manila, and other individuals who contributed, the program was able to accomplish its objectives. The elderly have definitely been afflicted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Although the threat of COVID-19 would still be there, the outreach program was able to run its course and was considered to be successful in extending a helping hand to the elderly. The academic department forwarded the donations on behalf of the HUMSS class. 

The said course annually holds charity work as a form of application of learnings throughout the term.
