In a heartwarming display of community spirit, Philippine Cultural College (PCC), together with Philippine Lao Too Family Association, Philippine Kho’s Family Association, and Philippine Tiu Gan Family Association have collaborated to sponsor books and school supplies to Narra Daycare Center on September 23, 2024. This initiative reflects the commitment of the four sponsors to nurturing the next generation while forming stronger bonds within the community.
It was 8 in the morning when this local daycare center near PCC Manila celebrated a book donation turnover ceremony for its young pupils. It was a combination of Kinder and Nursery books for English, Math, and Filipino. This event was attended by our school’s Vice President Dr. Sining Marcos Kotah, the head of the Office of Student Affairs Mrs. Peggie Gan, the student activity staff Ms. Jessica Chua, and the members of Tanglaw.
Key contributors that were present during the ceremony included Barangay 244 Chairman Oliver R. Diwa, Mr. Gan Johnson Ang and Zhang Ling Ling of Philippine Tiu Gan Family Association, and Ms. Leonora Jamon, a dedicated teacher with over 22 years of service in the Narra Daycare Center. Upon speaking with Ms. Jamon, she stated that this daycare has been her home since 2002. She has seen how much these family associations have contributed to help improve this home of young learners from time to time. She also mentioned that this was not only a legacy of Dr. Kotah, but also of Mr. Emilio Gan, the 10th principal of Philippine Cultural College.
The barangay chairman, Mr. Oliver R. Diwa and Ms. Jamon both shared their gratitude for the generous contributions and help from the family associations who have provided for the education of the children through the years, emphasizing the ultimate goal of fostering the importance of education on younger generations. The event further highlighted the importance of literacy and strengthened the community's commitment to nurturing young minds.
After arriving, the pupils of Narra Daycare Center all gathered around a table. They were filled with excitement as they awaited their books to be given. It was evident on the faces of the parents and the children how important these books truly were to their children’s education– maximizing the pupil’s potential at a young age. A parent noted that these books were a big help for her child to further enhance his knowledge and capability before entering grade school. This especially was beneficial to their family – helping them overcome the hardships and challenges they’ve encountered.
Ultimately, the Narra Daycare book donation turnover was a success, leaving the children with the supplies and the books they needed to fulfill their learning journey. PCC, as well as the aforementioned family associations, contributed greatly to the success of this event. May this legacy continue for more years to come.
