Philippine Cultural College - Main Campus streamed its 98th founding anniversary celebration with the theme “Rebranding Excellence” last July 27, 2021 via Facebook Live.
As the program opened, a message from the president, Dr. Polly W. Sy was given. She stated that PCC would be able to write a new chapter of our school’s glorious history. “Together, we will reach even greater heights, and together we will as we have done in the past, rebrand and uphold excellence amidst the demand of the changing times.” she added. This was followed by a message from the vice president, Dr. Sining M. Kotah. “Indeed, this is a day for jubilation, a day when we feel extra-ordinarily elated. After missing our foundation anniversary celebration last year due to pandemic, here we are gathered together on this festive day, despite the restrictions to come close to one another,” she mentioned.
Like in the previous years, the foundation day program consisted of the different performances delivered by the students of PCC Main Campus. The first one was from the Glee Club, as they sang their rendition of the song Bata Ang Bukas, a song by National Artist for Music Ryan Cayabyab about the youth being the hope of the country. Following this was an award-winning performance by Liu Joly (G4B) entitled《祖国啊,我属于你》, a piece that expressed love and patriotism for the country. It was then followed by another award-winning performance entitled The Wolf Plays the Flute for the Clever Lamb, which was a storytelling piece delivered by Elijah Luis Macawili (G1A) that centered on being persistent in the challenges faced in life.
Selected members of the Glee Club gave another performance entitled《童年》, a song reminding the memories and moments before the pandemic. After another vibrant performance, a recognition of student and alumni achievers from the school year 2020-2021 was shown. A performance entitled《醉太平》was performed by the PCC Chinese Dance Troupe, showcasing their grace and talent. This was followed by another award-winning chinese declamation performance by Kimberly Chen (G10A) entitled《我喜欢出发》reflecting the beauty within travelling to the unknown. The next performance was a violin rendition of a classic that never faded, Elvis Presley’s Can't Help Falling In Love With You by Vian Aguila (G8B). The last performance was a cathartic contemporary jazz dance number from the Salinlahi Dance Troupe entitled Only Time.
The program was hosted by Mr. Roberto Lim Jr., Senior High School Head Teacher and Ms. Sophia Lim, Chinese Department Faculty Member.
Despite the pandemic and the challenges of the changing times, PCC has managed to show its resilience by celebrating its 98th anniversary with pride and joy, this time on an online platform. As Dr. Kotah mentioned in her speech, although a month had already passed beyond the actual foundation day of the school, PCCians still had the same level of enthusiasm, as they witnessed the glory of the 98 years of PCC.
