Philippine Cultural College-Manila Student Council held its annual tribute to the teachers during its Teacher’s day celebration in the school auditorium on September 27, 2022. The event was virtually participated through Zoom by the students. The celebration was entitled, "The Secret of Unlocking Wonders".
The yearly celebration was warmly commenced by the emcees: Kimberly Chen (11A-STEM) and Jason Dong (12B-ABM). It was followed by the appreciative opening speech from the Student Council President Richard Shao (12A-ABM). According to him, teachers may have ordinary lives and positions, but they achieve extraordinary careers. The love and selflessness of teachers not only warms the heart of each and every student they teach but also lights up the future of younger generations.
This was followed by an inspiring message from the Student Council Vice President, Renjiro Chavez (12A-ABM). He stated that, “We students always have something to complain about and create reasons for why we, as students, should be right, and I am admitting that I am no exception. But that practice must be stopped because what we students don’t understand and recognize is that teachers have more tasks to do and are more sleep deprived than we students think.” Their tasks range from making effective PowerPoint presentations to creating engaging activities and challenging quizzes. All to benefit the students. Teachers sacrifice their sleep, personal time, energy, and health because they go an extra mile for their students, who could be one of the sources of their stress sometimes, he added.
The opening performance was by the Chinese Dance Troupe to the tune of《醉太平》. Next, the young virtuoso, Vian Aguila (9B), serenaded the teachers with a violin rendition of the song Your Love by Alamid. After which, the Salinlahi Dance Troupe performed a powerful dance number to the song HandClap by Fitz and the Tantrums. Next to that was a declamation presentation entitled,《老师, 妈妈》presented by our adorable schoolmate from the Kinder Department. Then, the Chinese Declamation Team executed a live performance of the poem《如果我是一滴水》. Meanwhile, Rong Kai Guo (G1A) showcased an energetic Wushu routine that was followed by a series of TikTok dance videos created by our beloved teachers and school administrators.

Ms. Catherine Yao, also known as 姚佳能老师, on the other hand, also recounted the days when she wanted to become a teacher, from being conflicted about stepping out of one’s comfort zone to realizing that one must venture out to reach their dreams and potential. She also spoke about her early years working inside the campus as a teacher and expressed her nervousness and worries as a first-time teacher, but was encouraged by her fellow teachers as she continued to grow into who she is today. The morning event was capped with a beautiful rendition of《教师颂》by the Student Council Officers.
