GOOD IDEALISM
A Year of Hope

2022 is a year that is looked forward to by many.
A year looked forward to by seniors because it is the year when they’ll be graduating and starting on their own ways. A year looked forward to by families who expect more blessings as they start to set their children onto their own respective paths. A year looked forward to by those who were severely distressed and harrowed by the past year’s phenomena with the hopes that the new year that is to arrive is a year filled with virtues and fortune. A year looked forward to by a country in hopes of electing a proper leader fit to rule and properly manage their motherland without any fear of them being complete bigots similar to those in the past.
A year of hope.
The havoc caused by the pandemic in the past two years has taken a serious toll on people. And because of this, they think that everything is a lost cause. Slowly, they started to rebuild, and it had been quite hard to do so but it was a step-by-step process that ensured growth. Still, in between those times of growing and rebuilding were times of distress that made people reassess the circumstances that they had been in and what led them to be exactly in those situations.
Many conclude that the reason for their torment is the way this crisis has been handled by the current administration. On the other side, some cite the inability of people to abide by regulations and protocols.
Whatever the reason is for such torment, it is still clear that a lot has been affected by its aftermath. And while there wasn’t much that could’ve been done, as everyone was pretty much caught off guard in the middle of it all in the last two years, there are certainly still some ways to prevent the same mistakes from happening again. When it comes to resolving issues such as these, they must, in fact, come to terms with the root problem of such issues. And in the pandemic’s case, a major contributor would be the quality of response coming from the authorities.
The year 2022 is the year of electing a new leader from our presidential candidates. As students, it might seem like they won’t be able to do much for most are still not legal of age to vote. But they can in fact continue to engage–showing support, expressing dissent, and exchanging ideas–through mediums easily accessible to many, like social media. Registered voters should be wise in their decisions and who they think is going to be fit to rule.
And as voters, they must grasp onto every chance that presents itself and vote for the person whom we know truly has compassion for us all and someone who actually cares for the betterment of the country and not just for the satisfaction of the candidate’s own greed.
To conclude, this article was written to serve as an eye opener not just to think about the results and consequences this election will give but to also think about what it will leave even after the finished term. We should clearly think about whether the elected officials will leave the citizens in a much better state or not, whether this will provide them a long term supply of resources or not, whether they would be able to provide sturdy housing, organized welfare, and even the continuous consistency of their plans.
What this article is only trying to say is that each vote really matters. When we vote, we look for someone who’s a proper and wise leader, making sure that he won’t be insincere and is not a selfish bigot whose only concern is himself and his improper propaganda. That being said, this article should also be a constant reminder to the readers that even if it is okay to be hopeful of things getting better, we should still be mindful that they can still go haywire at any given situation.
We cannot go about our day without thinking ahead of what can and cannot happen.
