Tandra Pal is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, National Institute of Technology Durgapur, India. She received the B.Sc. degree (hons. in physics) and the B.Tech degree in computer science and technology from the University of Calcutta, and the M.E. degree in computer science and engineering and the Ph.D. degree in engineering from Jadavpur University.
Since 1994, she has been with the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, National Institute of Technology Durgapur and acted as the head of the department during 2007-2009 and 2019-2021.
Her research interests include soft computing, multi-objective evolutionary computing, fuzzy logic, fuzzy decision-making, artificial neural networks, machine learning, and pattern classification. She has 75 publications, including Books, book chapters, conferences and journal papers.
Under her supervision/joint-supervision, 9 research scholars have been awarded PhD degrees, and 5 scholars are currently working. She is associated with 4 projects sponsored by MeitY, DST and TCS. She is a senior member of IEEE and has acted as the Chairperson of IEEE CIS Kolkata Chapter for the last two years (2021-2022).
