Ok, I have no idea why but this behavior started around 5 days ago; chrome suddenly starts to replace characters randomly (like the button V on the keyboard became N, while N remains N, so other random buttons, like 3 became , and so on; when this happens again other letters may appears). To fix the issue I have to restart the browser. I thougs was my PC, then I started to use the laptop and suddenly happens on there too.

And of course, you can type the Greek letters using alt codes. These are super helpful for typing out mathematical formats wherever you need to. For any real heavy lifting, you'd probably want to use something like TeX, but if you're just trying to send a mathematical expression through an instant message, these alt codes can come in hand.

I'm a rather new In Design User, so maybe this is an easy fix? I recently downloaded a brochure template from Creative Market and when I try to change the text, my keyboard is typing the letter before it. For example, I'll hit the "S" key and it will type a "R" or I'll hit the "F" key and it will appear "E". My only thought was to go into Paragraph Style Options and make sure the language is set to English, which it is. Is there another setting I should fix? I know it's specific to this document because a new document or using Photoshop has the correct setting.

You probably have changed your keyboard layout inadvertently. You should check your keyboard configuration settings under the language and regions section in the control panel. There you will be able to see if your configuration has changed, and change it back if it has.

You will need to do a hard re-set. Perform this by holding the Refresh key (the key that has an arrow in a circle shape on the top row of keys, and pressing the Power button for one second, then releasing both keys at the same time.) Although this does use the keyboard, these keys are set to trigger these even when it's unable to work.

I had connected a Logitech wireless keyboard to the Chromebook recently, so it's possible doing that caused the setting to automatically change. When I first used the Chromebook I'm sure the problem didn't occur.

It was set on "UK Keyboard," so every time I typed @ it came out as ". Switching to "US keyboard" worked. In the lower right corner you will see time, volume, wi-fi, and battery. At the end of that string of icons are letters that indicate the keyboard setting. Click on it and change it to "US Keyboard."

I had a similar issue, but mine was with the letters. Not all letters were switched, but the majority. I had to figure out what letters it was giving me so that I could login and check the settings. Under the language and input settings, someone had changed the input settings to US Workman Keyboard instead of just US Keyboard. Once I changed it back, it went back to normal. Hope this is all it is for you!

Soooo I frankensteined my two late-2011 Macbook Pros together - I had one before whose logic board totally failed, and my new second-hand one has slightly lower specs and the keyboard is sticky, so I figured the Alt key jam was a definite possibility. I successfully built the logic board from my 'new' sticky Macbook into my former higher-spec machine.

I've just read your advice (hyer originally) , my daughters macbook constantly is in capital letters and when I type it just does random symbols , couldn't login or anything , just tried this control , alt and r when I started up the mac and it worked !!!! Thank you so much !!!

I had the same issue, but it's just with a regular MacBook laptop, not a macbook pro. I find that when I press the keys shift option on the left side of the keyboard that the issue is resolved temporarily. It seems that there are a couple different symbols keyboards, so you may have to press the keys a couple times to get back to your normal keyboard. If that doesn't works, I press shift comand on the other side of the keyboard and sometimes the issue goes away temporarily. This does not permantly resolve the issue for me. It seems to come back when I type more on the left side of my keyboard. Hope this helps!

I just had this problem. Main keyboard working fine but the symbols around the outside not typing what they should. When I checked in the keyboard settings I somehow had a Spanish keyboard installed (weird ... some random set of shortcuts I accidentally pressed?). I deleted the Spanish keyboard and set it back to British. Problem solved.

Then I tried to change the keyboard shortcuts in the same window - spotlight (on left), unclick the show spotlight search field and the other one bellow. Then hit the com + Spacebar. This didn't fix it.

Okay, so my problem started a few months ago on an old generic keyboard that I was using. I had been gaming and all of the sudden, out of nowhere, every single key on the keyboard began to type multiple, different letters. I thought it was just the keyboard dying, so I bought a nicer one(Corsair K70). I've had it for about a month now, but now I have the same problem. While in the same exact game I had been playing on my old keyboard (DayZ) certain keys started acting up. But this time, it's only a few keys, and not every single one. AND, while I was writing this same exact thread last night on a different keyboard, it fixed itself, but now, the next day, it started up again while in a game. I have tried everything from language settings, to BIOS updates, installed new drivers, nothing works. I'll give you an example of the keys that are acting up.

These are the only keys that this is happening to. I havent spilled any liquid on the keyboard, I've taken great care of it. I popped they keys off and everything looks normal. Hope you guys can help me out. Thanks. :)

I'm having the exact same issues as OP with the responses to those keys. I can't seem to identify what triggers the issues and stops it. I've owned the keyboard for a week, and it's happened to me twice. Both times I had to switch keyboards, and both times I switched back the problem continued and then randomly stopped---without a clear trigger.

Love this keyboard but had the same issue. Push the "0" key and it autofilled random numbers. No rhyme or reason. Brand new keyboard. Had CUE installed and then a tech at Corsair it's not needed for the K70 RED ONLY keyboard. Just RGB. So I uninstalled it.

For anyone finding that the mentioned fix only works temporarily, I think the best option might be to replace the keyboard if possible. On my keyboard the problem returned after a week or so and I ended up sending it back and getting a replacement which has been working fine.

I doubt these keyboards are defective. I think it's a software issue. Corsair did screw up and not make it clear you should not use the CUE for the Lux K70 RED ONLY keyboard. It's designed for the RGB. So I accidentally downloaded this thinking I needed it because I couldn't find a RED ONLY manual on their web site. It steered me to the RGB manual. Big mistake.

I'm not 100% sure Joey ; the keyboard definitly has a problem, as it is not local to the computer. When I branched the keyboard to an old computer, it still had the problem, at the very launch of the OS.

I'm thinking it is an issue with the keyboard because after mine was replaced I have been using it with CUE to set up macros and there hasn't been any issue. My first keyboard had the original issue on multiple devices with and without CUE.

I have even tried changing the lights to ripple and wave even though it's all just red LEDs and the new keyboard still works fine. It's shows up in the software as a k70 LUX with red backlight so the software looks like it is supposed to work with this model.

To add accent marks to letters in foreign words, Microsoft Word users can utilize the following keyboard shortcuts to add the accent marks. For example, to get the character , press the Ctrl and Shift Keys while pressing the ~ key (tilde key). Then, release all three keys and quickly press the n key.

For keyboard shortcuts in which you press two or more keys simultaneously, the keys to press are separated by a plus sign (+) in the tables. For example, to type a copyright symbol  , hold down the Alt key and type 0169.

For keyboard shortcuts in which you press one key immediately followed by another key, the keys to press are separated by a comma (,). For example, for  you would press Ctrl + ` , release and then type e.

If you're working on a laptop without a separate numeric keyboard, you can add most accented characters using the Insert > Symbol > More Symbols command in Word. For more info, see Insert a symbol in Word.

For the past 3 weeks or so, all of a sudden when I'm typing a message, certain letters (especially a and e) will go in twice or it puts a period and starts a new sentence when I'm in the middle of one. Has anyone experienced the problem or know how to fix it? It's extremely annoying, I spend so much time typing and trying to get it right.

I have experienced this type of issue before and I know how frustrating this can be. Usually the multiple letters occurs when you have a lot of data on your phone and if your a fast typer, by the time your phone catches up it will generate two of the same letters and also since you have a touch screen and type fast sometimes the keyboard will add periods in the middle of your sentences if you are using a letter that is close to the period symbol. I don't suggest that you type slower but try clearing some data from your phone and when typing a letter close to the period be sure to avoid it because there is really not a known fix for this kind of issue....unless it does it randomly more than 10 times, in this case you may to try a soft reset by pulling the battery for 1 to 2 minutes and if this does not work get your phone checked for any defects by going to your local verizon wireless store where a technician is available.

Thanks. I took it to VZ wireless on Tuesday, and of course it wasn't happening, but I was able to show the person in there what it was doing from previous texts. I've uninstalled all my applications I downloaded, tried the reset. It seemed to fix the issue a bit, but started again. The touch screen keyboard works great. Its the regular keyboard that has the issues. I'll try to the reset again. I can't imagine it be the way I type, it worked for 4 months without any problems. Thanks for the help! ff782bc1db
