I bought this router a month ago to replace an ISP one for better online gaming and so far it's not going well. As of a week ago I'm getting constant packet loss. I ran a line test with my ISP (TalkTalk) a couple of days ago and they said there appeared to be a fault. This morning, my internet is dropping out. I ran Speedtest on Windows and mobile and both showed high transfer but drop outs. I looked up the status of my broadband wtih the ISP and they report no issues, suggesting they fixed the fault. I ran a speed test on their website and it reported full speed to the router, problems over the Wifi.
I entered the Modem settings and tried the in-built Speedtest to test over the WAN, not the Wifi to devices. I've used this before. However, it's reporting 'Well, you're offline'. My history shows it worked a month ago.
Each speed test site can be affected by network traffic, the location of the server you are using for the test etc, so it's always good practice not to put your faith in a single test, but use a few to get an average. It's also a good idea to try and use a speed test that has a server close to you. so for example, if your in the north of England and you choose a London based server this could give a slightly lower result than say a Manchester based server. I gave up using my r1 for a while after following the wiki step by step and failing to keep normal down/up load speeds ie what my talktalk modem/router produced standing alone no matter what i did ( also tried a second talk talk router same results). Also had open nat and was always around 10% lower then what my download/upload speed should have been i would of been fine with this but my game play was even worse then normal and the geo filter not that useful as i am a uk bo3 player on x box so get the same Ireland dedicated server 99% of the time only time i do not is if there down.
In the netduma device manger it would say i was behind another router at the top but wasn't an issue as long as dmz was right my wording might be off but along those lines so I figured two routers was the problem. i bridged the talk talk router after reading a post on talk talk forums it stated to
