Talia Haven is an author, with the talent for writing short stories as well as novels. Her unique style of writing, and bringing mythology with present times, makes her stories come alive. Each of her stories has its own thrilling plot, and even being short reads, it’s a full story, with what a story needs, a beginning, middle and end. Magical Parable
This is the second story I've read by Talia Haven and the work still impresses me. Short stories are often harder to write as the writer must write a complete story, and this is one of those stories. It's magical and festive, and the writer expresses the story and culture very well. It does come across as a folk tale or parable and does seem to provide a lesson, not just to A'dab but the reader as well. The story does feel like it's just the beginning and lets hope there is more to come.
Mama cried
5 Stars
Compelling and gripping
An emotional and compelling story that gives so much within the short tale of a child's heaven. It draws in the reader and keeps them until the very end. Tears and emotions flow at every page.
Umaka Orr
5 Stars
Talia Haven writes a unique and short sci-fi tale with Umaka Orr
In Umaka Orr, the reader is introduced to Umaka Orr, who is going by another name. I am a big fan of Talia Haven's and have been reading her short stories for years, probably back to when I first started writing reviews. This one is a little longer than some of her short stories, but it is a grand story. At first, me, as the reader, wasn't sure exactly what was going on in the first few paragraphs, but with that, it made me want to read more. I wanted to know why Umaka tried to hide her identity. Talia Haven not only tells the story but shows it with words as well. The story is not just about what the characters see, but what and how they smell. Scent can show a liar immediately. She identifies other people or beings in the room with her, and that there is this sense of fear in this world. Talia Haven has built a great world, with interesting characters. She makes the reader wonder and want to read more, so we can find the answers. I must say, I found this to be one of her best short stories that I have read so far, and she has written many, in various genres. And I must say, the ending, I did not see that coming.
Sweet Little Princess Irene

Talia Haven writes a grand tale with Sweet Little Princess Irene
In Sweet Little Princess Irene, the reader is introduced to Irene and along with voice number one, voice number two and then the third voice. I'm not kidding. Irene is angry at her sister Lenora, and wishes Irene was the oldest child. At first, you're not sure why they were fighting, and why Irene was so mad at her sister. And then, the unthinkable happens. I am a big fan of Talia Haven and read whatever this author writes. This author has a grand imagination, and talent for showing the story. The character Irene is also the narrator, which gives the story an interesting perspective. It's a short story, but it tells a grand story. When reading anything this author writes, you always find something else that you like about her story telling abilities. And you, can get a real scents, spelled just like I wanted it, of the story, as lavender is a present scent, even when Irene tries to get rid of it. The story is heartfelt, and emotional, but also interesting and unpredictable. And there is a moral of the story, be careful of what you wish for.
Hoeko and the Shark God
4 Stars
A grand short story of creation and greed
Hoeko and the Shark God brings the reader to a world that had yet to exist, but Kane, a God, a creator, was set to create something, something beautiful, a place where each of his creations would have its own God. He created animals, water, land, and humans. He even created merpeople who could live on land and in sea. Kauhuhu was waiting impatiently for his assigned creature, and Kane gave him his first creation of animal, the shark. This was a remarkable story that brings in fables, myths, and a moral of greed, and also the human condition, whether beast or being, or even a God.

A very unique tale about the value of life
I'm not sure if Talia Haven though about a moral of the story when writing it, but after reading it, I saw it. Clear as day. The reader is introduced to Bev, who works on a project that determines procreation, interfering with the fetal genetics, and giving perfect children to parents. But what happens to the unwanted? That's something most of the characters think about. The story idea is unique, and the characters show their professionalism and their emotions, trying to keep them in check. It's a grand story and very unpredictable. it brings out logical, ethical situations and consequences, and even a single passing thought is dangerous. A grand story all in all.
Krim Du Shaw
5 Stars
A grand story
It takes a special writing skill to create a short story. Krim Du Shaw is a grand short story, where the story doesn't take over, it tells the story. The meadow filled with mares, fillies and unicorns, a time where unicorns frolicked. It's a wonderful fable and it tells the story with ease and has a thoughtful ending. It's nice to know that fables and fantasy can still exist. Well written short story.
Audiobook Sled Runner
4 Stars
Talia Haven tells a grand story in Sled Runner
In Sled Runner, the listener is introduced to Sirmiq, and the goddess, Pinga, goddess of the hunt, who puts dreams into persons head to help them, if they behaved, and followed instructions. There is also a grand wolf pack, lead by the Wolf God. Talia Haven has a way of bringing in her modern twists of mythology, whether they take place centuries ago, or yesterday. Sled Runner is no different, and it allows for your imagination, and even Sirmiq's dreams and creations based on the dreams, and he wants to understand her motive. She has a great motive, and it is not something that is always for the best. When the sled is done, it is more than one can imagine. I did read the print version of the story, and enjoyed it, but I also really enjoyed this audiobook. The characters were intriguing and very interesting. Even though this narration is virtual voice, it really brought this story to life. This book deserves both a read and a listen! It is always a joy to listen to this author's books. This author is a great storyteller.
The Good Mystic
4 Stars
Powerful
It took me a minute to grasp not only the concept and characters, but I did. I was drawn in immediately, and learned about the mystics, and their carefully chosen words when given to those who asked about their future. Corra is the mystic, the Goddess of Prophecy, sometimes in a grand crane form, loses her daughter, and she sets out for revenge. The story is short, but it's a great read, and has intriguing depth. Corra is guided by her mother's words, “But if you only tell them good things, then they will feel better about their lives, and so will you.” A powerful story, told in a magical and mystical way.
