time is a measure of an interval between the past, present and future.
eg the time (in minutes) it takes to get to school.
eg the time (in hours) from 2pm to 8pm
eg the time (in years) from 2013 to 2016
A second is a basic measure of time. A second is 1/60 (one sixtieth) of a minute.
60 seconds = 1 minute
A minute is 60 seconds. 60 minutes make an hour.
60 minutes = 1 hour
An hour is 1/24 of a day. 24 hours make a day.
24 hours = 1 day
A day is the approximate time it takes for the Earth to rotate 1 full revolution.
A day is broken into morning (before 12pm), afternoon and evening.
Midday is 12pm (middle of the day)
Midnight = 12am (night time)
A week is 7 days.
7 days = 1 week
A fortnight is 14 days or 2 weeks.
14 days = 2 weeks = 1 fortnight
A year is the approximate time it takes for the Earth to rotate 1 full revolution around the Sun.
There are usually 365 days in a year
In a Leap Year there are 366 days
There are 52 weeks in one year.
52 weeks = 1 year
Note: 52 x 7 = 364 days, so there is usually 1 or 2 days extra
A decade is 10 (ten) years.
10 years = 1 decade
A century is 100 (hundred) years.
100 years = 1 century
A millenium is 1,000 (thousand) years.
1000 years = 1 millennium
We say there are 365 days each year, but it is closer to 365.2425... days each year.
So every 4 years, these extra part days add up to another day.
A Leap Year is a year where were have 366 days, the extra day is added in February.
This extra day is called a Leap Day.
Previous leap Years: 2000, 2004, 2008, 2012, 2016, 2020, so 2024, 2028 will be Leap Years.
The year is also divided into 12 months.
365 divided into 12 = 30.41666...
Some months have either 30 or 31 days, with February having 28 (or 29 in a Leap Year).
12 months = 1 year

April = 30 days
May = 31 days

An old poem that some people learn to remember the days in each month:
"Thirty days hath September, April, June, and November; All the rest have Thirty-one, Except February, which is twenty-eight;
But in leap year we assign February with twenty-nine."
