On the Cartesian Plane, a graph is a diagram that shows relationships or patterns.

A straight-line graph shows a linear relationship between two variables.

The y variable increases or decreases by the same amount every time as x increases.

A parabola graph (parabolic graph) shows relationships that involve the variable x being squared.

Any graph that is not a straight-line graph is often called a curve.
