proportion

When shapes or numbers are 'in proportion', their fractions or ratios are the same.

Proportion is used to solve problems between two shapes or numbers and find out missing information.

Example 1

A train travels 50km in 1 hour.

The same train travels 250km in 5 hours.

Example 2

Triangle ABC is in proportion to triangle DEF. It is twice the size.
