Frequency is the number of times something occurs or the number of items of a specific thing in a set of data.

eg Dog, Cat, Horse, Dog, Dog, Cat, Horse, Dog, Dog, Cat, Horse, Cat, Dog

The frequency of the word dog in the list above = 6

A frequency table is a table that is used to display statistical data, for example the number of times an event occurred.

eg This frequency table displays the number of times a die landed on each outcome, after 60 rolls.

The number 5 came up 11 times out of the 60 rolls.

In many statistical graphs, the frequency is plotted on the vertical (y-axis).
