factors & HCF

A factor is a number that multiplies by another factor to give a product (another number).

eg 3 ✕  5 = 15 (3 and 5 are factors of 15)

The highest common factor of two numbers is the highest number that is a factor of both numbers.

It is abbreviated as HCF. 

It can also be called the greatest common factor.
