Even in Android 1.5, there were some problems with it (Issue 2571 - android), and while you can use your Internet for simulating HTTP connections and downloading data, finer control over Wi-Fi connectivity should better be done with a device.

In theory, linux (the kernel underlying android) has mac80211_hwsim driver, which simulates WiFi. It can be used to set up several WiFi devices (an acces point, and another WiFi device, and so on), which would make up a WiFi network.

In theory, this driver could be used for tests in the android systems where you don't have a real WiFi device (or don't want to use it), and also in some kind of android emulators. Perhaps, one can manage to use this driver in android-x86, or--for testing--in android-x86 run in VirtualBox.

I have wasted a whole day trying out different solutions floating around in SO and other place mentioned to enable wifi on the android emulator but to no avail. Can anybody help me figure out how do I enable internet on my android emulator?

Edit: This is the fix for a situation when the emulator's wifi has changed the DNS to some non-working DNS. While this works most of the time, there might also be other reasons which may not fix from this solution.

@TheBaj : I figured the problem with this and fixed it. The problem is when you are connected through the router, the androidwifi in your emulator uses the settings and the sets the DNS to something other than 8.8.8.8 which is the google DNS(I presume this is kinda mandatory setting for the androidwifi to gain internet access). But if i change the DNS in my network settings, the google-services plugin which fetches your dependencies especially the one's getting downloaded from jcenter() will not be downloaded and hence your sync will fail which eventually fails your build.

I hope I save someone a lot of pain, I tried everything everyone said on here, changed the DNS of every network adapter, reinstalled everything, the SDK, the emulator, even android studio, nothing worked, if you find yourself in the same position check if you VMware installed, if you do, don't bother with the DNS just go into Control Panel->Network and Sharing Center->Change Adapter Settings, and disable any and all VMware Network Adapters, then Cold Boot, fixes the issue instantly, you can even enable them later, and it still works

For new searcher users:Sometimes VPN is your solutionChanging of network setting is not possible always because of networking issues. If you are in ip addresses that google does not responding for these regions, your solution is using of vpn.Use a proper vpn (a vpn that trough it you could update your android studio). When your vpn is on start your avd device (ofcourse api level of your emulator is important for example I have not any problem with api 22 but for api 28 is need using of vpn !).This was my experience about android emulator internet.

I am running on a self-hosted Nextcloud 16.0.4 installation behind a reverse proxy.

I am able to access, upload, use and utilise the server to its full potential, except for when android clients try to sync with WiFi.

The issue I have is not very obvious, because the client says: Connection error.

great!

Yes nextcloud works 100% fine elsewise. Got smb drive attached locally in Windows, I have Web interface working flawlessly, but android app fails on WiFi. I can also use phone browser and upload normally there.

I just started having this same issue on Android. Also running 16.0.4. Images upload fine over Verizon 4G but not on any wifi. I am able to create a folder manually through the Android app and it is synced. It also seems I can delete anything through the app. But it will not upload any files I try.

Not sure if this issue coincided with the last firmware, but recently my android phone and tablet are not having internet access. I tried my LG G6 and it connects fine to 2.4G and 5G. My windows laptop connects fine to the 2.4G. The tablet connects to the 2.4G

With the previous version it didn't work even though it was enabled (devices didn't ever connect with WPA3). With this version it absolutely will not work. I have the same router and it works with my Pixel 6 without issue, as long as WPA3 is not used. The problems with WPA3 (specifically 802.11w) and mwlwifi are well documented and will not be fixed as the vendor has dropped support. If you require WPA3 you will need to replace the router.

I have the same issue. I update to openwrt 22 and I can not connect my androids phone or devices using WPA2/WP3 MIX, I have to use only WP2. I don't have any problem connecting computer or amazon devices using WPA2/WP3 MIX, I didn't have this problem before on openwrt 21.

This issue only happens on my WIFI network. If I turn off the WIFI connection on my phone and use mobile network, it can login without issue. Using wifi and login with Bitwarden app has never been an issue and only happened recently.

I am trying to connect my Android 12 phone to wifi hotspot initiated on Ubuntu 22.04. However the wifi hotspot is not visible in the list of available networks when set on WPA security. When I switch to open security, it is visible and works well. However I cannot leave it on open security.I tried the solutions given in the other post related to older Ubuntu versions as well as new one like the ones inubuntu 18.04 hotspot not visibleI have tried below options:

To work around this, you can just these setting in the Hotspot.nmconnection.

Type (you can use nano, vi,emac. BUt Gui is easiest for new people) sudo gedit /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections/Hotspot.nmconnectionand edit [wifi-security] part to be this(change psk to your password):

Fast update, I've updated to the newest firmware. (Deco M9 Plus1.3.0 Build 20190821 Rel. 54023) Which allows you to turn of Mesh Technology for connected devices. I'm sorry to say that my TV (Philips (55PUS6401/12) with Android 8.0.0) still won't connect to wifi when enabling fast roaming. My original problem still exists with this newest firmware.

@levo thanks for your answer. If that's true then it's not working for me correctly. My daughters iPad keeps connected to the deco on the ground level when she's on the second level.(assuming she started downstairs) If she turns off wifi and on again the iPad switches to the deco on the first level.

Back to your case, we received some feedback and found that the root cause is that the TV does not support fast roaming segment which blocks TV to connect to the Deco wifi network; generally speaking, with the fast roaming enabled, the fast transmisson segment will be included on the beacon frame, it is optional, devices which support it can acheive 802.11r roaming much better, others which do not support just ignore it; It seems that the TV does not support and refuse to connect to it.

Hey all,

I just stumbled across the Wifi Connection sensor on my android HA app (wife has same model of phone). My WAF is very low with the GPS presence detection. I was wondering if it is possible to set home/away status based on the SSID of my network from this sensor? Our network is split between default and 5gHz so I would need to capture both as our phones could be connected to either at any given time.

This turns on when connected to one of the three SSIDs and off if it is not connected for about 10 seconds. This works really good on my Samsung S21, even when the wifi of the phone goes to sleep (which it does on every phone i think when it is not used for a longer time), the sensor still says you are connected. Only when coming home sometimes it is a little bit slow when the phone is in my pocket and screen is off.

I have a few devices not applying the wifi policies. I'm getting 0xc7d24fc5 and -942518331 errors on the policy itself. Everything else is applied to the device. One is a Pixel 6a and the other one is a Samsung A22 phone. Both Android 13. No issues enrolling into the corporate-owned dedicated profile. I've also tested with our shared devices profile. The same error pops up.

I'm getting the same error on a Pixel 7 Pro. This is the only place I've seen the two error codes (0xc7d24fc5 and -942518331) mentioned anywhere else when searching for them.

I don't have access to the Omadm log, only the CloudExtension ones, and I can't find anything in there regarding the wifi profile.

Does Microsoft have any information on this error code that they can share so we can know where to troubleshoot?

We are also facing this issue. Worked fine when deploying Wifi profile to device that had the security patch update from May, but after june update was installed and reenrolled device, wifi profile reports 'error'.

When you connect to WiFi, a profile is created and stored on your device to make it easier to connect again and again. When wifi service or its security is improved, sometimes you need to remove the old profile so it doesn't interfere with a new one. Also, sometimes the wifi profile list can build up and you'll need to delete the ones you are not using anymore.

To find the Wi-Fi password on an Android, open the Google Play Store app and search for and install Solid Explorer File Manager. From the home screen, tap Menu (three lines), go to Storages, and tap Root. In the root filesystem, tap data > Grant > misc > wifi > wpa_supplicant.conf. Choose a text editor; under the network block, find the entry for psk to view the password.

My Sony keeps loosing connection as well. Keeps saying the wifii network won't accept the connection. This happens everyday. It happened 3 times in an hour today. It use to work great but last 5 months terrible. I was told to move the living room device closer to the router, but it's just as bad if not worse.

Hi. Over the last 9 months having BT broadband I am admittedly very happy with the service, having 1 major issue fixed initially and only 2 drop outs since. But....

Over those 9 months I have had a few budget android phones to keep me going and some of them simply fail to connect to Smart Hub 2. Just hanging until they time out. Done updates on phones and no change. Other phones, new and old, my brothers latest samsungs 20/22 ultra and p30 pro, p20 and others have connected fine. Last week a relatively new Nokia G10 refuses to connect the same way too.

However, every single phone will connect to a mobile phone hotspot which has been the go around to check the phone is working on wifi, without issue.

Right now I have a Huawei P Smart hanging to the Hub but connecting fine to the P30 Pro that is connected to it's own 4G data. That phone connected fine to the hub.

Does anyone know what the general issue is here ? e24fc04721
