In the interest of safety for our puppies, we do restrict visitation. The health of our puppies is our first priority and requires that we limit outside traffic in the interest of their welfare.
Young puppies don't have fully developed immune systems and are susceptible to life threatening illnesses such as Parvovirus, which can be devastating and deadly to puppies in just a matter of days. Many parasites and diseases can easily and unknowingly be carried on clothing, hands, and shoes and can stay in the environment on surfaces and in soil for several months to years. We cannot schedule visits during any time that we have unvaccinated pups on the premises.
New and expecting mothers are more protective and easily stressed during this time. Not only is this not a good time to assess the mother's temperament, stress and unease caused by visitors coming and going can be detrimental to the puppies as well. Stressed Moms can pass stress to her puppies and are also more likely to unintentionally injure or step on a pup when in protective mode and stressed animals are more susceptible to illness as well.
There are many videos and pictures available on our Facebook and Instagram that show where and how our puppies are raised and we are always happy to chat with you and answer any questions that you may have. We also provide regular updates, pictures, and video as your puppy grows from birth until it's ready to go home. Usually, the safest and most convenient option is to meet your puppy on pick up day. If there is more than one suitable match in a litter, you will be able to meet and select from those pups. Keep in mind that the rest of the puppies in your new family member's litter belong to other families who have also entrusted us with their care. It is our responsibility to keep everyone's pups safe and healthy and we try to take every possible precaution to avoid putting any of them at risk.
While we understand the desire to meet your potential puppy before making the commitment to a new family member and believe it is very wise to get to know your breeder, please keep in mind that we are not a kennel facility and our dogs and puppies live and are raised in our home. Each visitation is an interruption to our dogs' routine (they love their routine). We still have to care for, feed, and train our dogs and puppies (and we absolutely can't leave out play time). This makes it difficult to accommodate the volume of requests we have for visits and we are only able to allow those who have been approved for a puppy and have placed deposit. Therefore, we prefer that you meet your puppy at eight weeks of age, when it is safe to do so. If you are not happy with your choice of puppy at that time or decide that you are not comfortable working with us for whatever reason, we will refund your deposit at that time and you will not be required to take the puppy as scheduled. We absolutely would not want one of our puppies going to a home without 100% certainty that it is the best decision for all involved, especially the puppy.
Visits are by appointment only.
We ask that you please do not visit other litters on the same day or after previously visiting with another breeder, dog park, vet, farm, shelter, pet store, etc.
Please wear clothes that have not been in contact with other animals on the same day of your visit.
We prefer groups of visitors be limited to 2-3 adults
We cannot permit any outside pets to visit
Please be on time as we may have other appointments or have planned your visit around our work schedules.
Thank you for understanding and respecting the health and well-being of our dogs and puppies. We look forward to meeting you!
