While we have had several drivers seize their maiden podiums during the first two races of the season, this is not short lived as Emely De Heus joins the ranks this weekend in Barcelona.
While she was overtaken at lights went out by Léna Bühler who had a stunning start, De Heus managed to maintain P2, defending from Hamda Al Qubaisi, who was following close behind, having overtaken Abbi Pulling in turn 1. Meanwhile, teammates Marta García and Bianca Bustamante battled for P5, but the championship leader (García) was forced to defend for the majority of the race, as Bustamante continued to pressure.
De Heus journey to attain P1 was consistent and dedicated as the determined girl pushed to set fastest lap while trying to regain her position. The fastest lap was soon seized by Amna Al Qubaisi, however race leader Bühler swiftly seized it back, extending her distance at the front to 1.1 seconds. Hamda Al Qubaisi, who was following close in third place was forced to pit due to an issue, and soon after had to retire from the race.
Léna Bühler continued to push in the lead, and with three laps left, formed a three second lead ahead of pole sitter Emely de Heus. However, bad luck struck and the racer was stripped of her potential win as she suffered an issue, forcing her to DNF, stopping on the side of the track while de Heus assumed the lead. Meanwhile, the battle between García and Bustamante pursued, however the leader of the championship managed to hold the Filipino off, seizing her fourth podium in 9 races and de Heus claimed her first win.
"I'm really happy about my first win in F1 Academy! It was a bit of a rollercoaster in the beginning, I lost a position, but later I had a bit of luck when Lena had an issue, so I am delighted to finish first." - Emely de Heus
Winning her second race of the season, Emirarti racer Amna Al Qubaisi moved up to third place in the driver standings, also giving her team their second win of the weekend after teammate Emely de Heus' victory that morning.
From the race line, Amna overtook pole sitter Nerea Martí with an excellent start, stealing the lead from P2. The two racers battled it out, creating a 1.2 second gap with championship leader Marta García who followed behind in P3. Abbi Pulling, who began in P6, steered her way up to P4, while being pressured by Léna Bühler who was eager for her redemption after her tragic DNF in the previour race, which cost her a potential win.
Meanwhile at the very front of the field, Amna Al Qubaisi and Martí continued their battle, with the MP Motorsport racer setting fastest lap while she continued to lead the race. At the same time, sister and teammate Hamda who had fallen from 4th to 6th, struggled to make her way back up.
As Nerea Martí tackled an issue with her car, Marta García moved up to P2 and Nerea dropped back further into P6 for the remainder of the race as Abbi Pulling, Léna Bühler, and Hamda Al Qubaisi all successfully overtook her. Martí's unfortunate struggle enabled Amna to form a four second lead to her nearest competitor - García, while she seized her second win of the season.

After a tragic retirement in this first race this weekend, Lena Bühler of ART Grand Prix finally had her redemption, seizing her maiden win in the third and final race in Barcelona at the Circuit de Catalunya. Executing a flawless start, Bühler lead the race from start to finish.
Further behind, Abbi Pulling and Amna Al Qubaisi struggled with one another for P4 and all the while Bühler increased the gap between her and the other drivers following.
Having overtaken Filipino Bianca Bustamante, Lola Lovinfosse succesfully performed an undertake past Nerea Martí into P8 and continued to move up to P7 by overtaking Canadian Megan Gilkes in Turn 1 on the 9th lap of the race. Lovinfosse steadily narrowed the gap to the following 2 racers who also happened to be the previous winners this weekend; Emely de Heus and Amna Al Qubaisi. On lap 14,
Lovinfosse claimed P7 after undertaking de Heus into the first turn; one step closer to a podium. The French driver was ready to continue ticking off racers as she moved up the grid, with Amna Al Qubaisi as her next target, however upon exceeding track limits the MP Motorsports racer was given a 5s penalty, and was demoted to P6.
While Lovinfosse could not proceed any higher in the field, Léna Bühler, a three time podium finisher, finally got the chance to claim her maiden win in the F1 Academy.
"I am really happy with the result today. I am a bit disappointed with the weekend because I should have won yesterday after my issue. It is difficult to accept to lose a lot of points like this, but I need to keep pushing and I am looking forward to the next race." - Léna Bühler
