Creative Director

Organised a-month long exploration of rediscovering nature through food ‘ImagiNasi’ by planning online competitions, exhibitions, foraging activities, design and build a digital garden ‘The Kampung City’, nature-art workshops, forum, food demonstrations by people of different backgrounds including experimental chef, professional chef, and indigenous cook.

Event manager

Buluh in the City was an event held at Rimbu Ilmu Botanic Garden, University of Malaya. Rimba Ilmu is a national heritage site and among its extensive collections of tropical plants is a remarkable one of Malaysian bamboos. Bamboos were at the centre of a day dedicated to nature in the city. The event comprised discussions on our interactions with the nature around us, led by speakers well-versed with managing gardens for wildlife and for communities in cities.

URBAN BIODIVERSITY INITIATIVE
UBI is an independent collective for urban ecology research, conservation and environmental education. A social enterprise based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

WORKSHOP & 'THE KAMPUNG CITY' EXHIBITION
A workshop on folding foliages that is used to wrap Malaysian food. The workshop started off with a 'be-leaf-ing in yourself' exercise. Proceeded with folding banana leaves as nasi lemak, and coconut leaves as ketupat.

Sufiyan Ilyasa. Creatures highlights a range of topics on human-wildlife interface, habitat encroachment, endangered animals of Malaysia, importance of Mother Earth, and stories of Sang Kancil.

THE RIMBA PROJECT
A living lab from University of Malaya (UM) that protects and promote UM's biodiversity through urban biodiversity conservation on campus. As of 2020, The Rimba Project is now known as
Rimba Project 2.0.

Stories from the Deep Forest (2018)

DEVISED SHADOW PLAY PERFORMANCE
Inspired by Orang Asli Animal Tales by the late Dr Lim Boo Liat, Stories from the Deep Forest was a devised shadow play performance in collaboration with UEEH MNS & Saito University College. The purpose was for an awareness campaign highlighting the Malayan Tiger. Shadow puppets designed by Chua Shi Kai.
