Assistant Professor, Eller MIS, The University of Arizona
I am an assistant professor in the Department of Management Information Systems at the Eller College of Management, the University of Arizona. My research interests lie primarily in the area of Healthcare Operations and Service/Retail Operations Management.
More broadly, the main goal of my research is to provide healthcare providers and policy-makers with insights on how to improve care-delivery systems from strategic to operational levels. Below, I provide a bit more specific areas of my current research:
Operational Efficiency in Healthcare Delivery Systems,
Clinical Practice Variation, Its Causes, and Impacts,
Patient Flow and Healthcare Resource Management,
Health IT, Patient Portal, and Online Health Communities,
Capacity Planning and Scheduling in Healthcare,
Logistics Optimization for Food Safety,
Platform Business Models.
To properly answer my research questions, I apply econometric methods and optimization techniques, among others.
Prior to joining Eller MIS, I received my PhD degree in Business Administration - Operations and Supply Chain Management, Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Texas A&M University and a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Seoul National University, South Korea. Before starting my graduate studies in the U.S., I worked as an Air Force officer from South Korea with a specialty in aircraft armament systems maintenance.
