Mount the network paths on the NUC and have the new server point to them (and pray it works). No idea how to go about "importing" windows reg values, so it will basically result in a "new" server, meaning I have to re-add settings & shared users (what about family settings?! those took so long to set up)

On my laptop, I can connect from Windows to the shared files on my NAS by using the Synology username & Password. However, on my desktop, when I type the \\SynologyName in the file explorer, Windows presents a login windows asking for Email & password.

I don't have an email associated with the NAS.

The best recommendation will be to have one Windows server on each side with DFS folder replication. Synology and Windows server won't sync between each other unless it is in an rsync job between them (which is not realtime changes). Another way would be to have two synology device but to keep everything homogeneous and with Windows Integration, I would highly recommend two servers connected through VPN with DFS Replication.

Not both Linux flavors are not stable, but the QNAP only. The synology works perfectly fine (Model: RS3614xs+) and will stay as it is. I share 20TB of space from that monster, even if I have about 90TB free space. Maybe I will increase that in the future if I see that STORJ make use of the 20TB.

EDIT: After speaking with synology they suggested disabling chap authentication and enabling something called masking, which is basically a filter to block which nodes can connec to each LUN. This made a huge difference to the problem. It still occurs every now and again after power outages or similar, but after reboots I can be pretty much certain that the luns will remount. I guess its an issue between the windows iscsi initiator and the target in authentication negotiation. ff782bc1db
