Sync ("the Extension") is a Chrome extension that analyzes the content of your active browser tab when you explicitly request it and displays a synchronized summary on the page. This Privacy Policy explains what information the Extension handles and how it is used.
The Extension may process the following data only when you click to analyze a page:
Website content: A visual capture (screenshot) of the currently active tab, including text and images visible on that page.
Authentication information: A password you enter in the Extension popup to unlock analysis. The password is checked locally and is not transmitted to our servers.
The Extension does not collect your name, email address, browsing history across sites, location, financial data, health data, or keystrokes outside the popup password field.
Website content is sent to Google's Gemini API to generate the analysis shown to you in the on-page panel.
The unlock password is used only to verify access within the Extension. A session flag is stored locally in chrome.storage.session until you close the browser or lock the Extension.
We do not sell, rent, or trade user data. Data is not used for advertising, credit decisions, or unrelated purposes.
Analysis is performed using Google's Generative Language API. Data sent to that service is subject to Google's Privacy Policy and Gemini API Terms.
We do not operate our own backend servers for processing page content.
activeTab: Access the current tab only after you open the Extension and start analysis.
scripting: Inject scripts into the active tab to capture content and show the result panel.
storage: Store a local session unlock state in your browser.
Host permission (generativelanguage.googleapis.com): Communicate with the Gemini API when you request analysis.
Session unlock state is cleared when the browser session ends or when you lock the Extension.
The Extension does not maintain a persistent database of captured pages or analysis results on developer-operated servers.
Retention of data processed by Google is governed by Google's policies.
Analysis runs only when you open Sync and click to analyze the active tab.
You can stop using the Extension at any time by removing it from Chrome.
Do not use the Extension on pages containing sensitive information you do not wish to send to Google's API.
The Extension is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect the latest version.
