This Privacy Policy explains how Symptom Checker: Symptomix ("the App," "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use the App. We built the App to keep your health-related entries on your device wherever possible, and this policy describes exactly what that means in practice.
By installing or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Who We Are
Symptom Checker: Symptomix is developed by Vision Apps Technologies ("we," "us"). If you have questions about this policy or the App's data practices, see the Contact Us section (Section 13) below.
2. Summary
The App lets you select or describe symptoms, view general information about possible related conditions, and keep a personal symptom history.
The App provides general health information only. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Please read Section 5.
The symptoms and health details you enter are stored and processed on your device. We do not operate a server that stores them, and we do not sell them.
The App does not require you to create an account or sign in.
The App does not request sensitive permissions such as location, contacts, camera, microphone, SMS, or call logs. Section 6 lists every permission and why it is used.
If applicable: The App shows ads served by third-party ad networks. We do not share your symptom entries with advertisers. See Section 8.
3. Information We Collect
3.1 Information you provide directly
The App does not require registration, an account, or a profile. We do not collect your name, email address, or phone number through the App itself, unless you voluntarily provide it by contacting us for support (see Section 13).
3.2 Information you enter to use the App's features
To provide symptom checking and your personal history, the App handles the following information that you choose to enter on your device, and uses it only for the purpose described:
Symptom entries: symptoms you select or type, their severity, duration, and any notes you add. Used to generate general information about possible related conditions.
Health profile (optional): details such as age, sex, height, or weight, if you choose to enter them. Used to make the general information shown more relevant.
Symptom history: past symptom checks and the results shown to you, with dates. Used to let you review and track your history on your device.
Reminders (optional): reminder times and notification preferences you set. Used to send reminders you asked for.
App settings: language, theme, and display preferences. Used to apply your customization choices.
This information is entered by you and processed locally on your device. We do not transmit your symptom entries, health profile, or history to our servers, and we do not have a backend that stores them.
3.3 Automatically collected technical information
Device model, operating system version, and app version, used for crash reporting and compatibility.
Aggregated, non-identifying usage statistics (for example, which screens or features are used), if analytics are enabled. This does not include the content of your symptom entries.
Advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID), if the App displays ads.
3.4 Information we do not collect
We do not collect, read, or store:
Your name, government identifiers, or medical records
Your precise or approximate location
Your contacts, photos, files, messages, call logs, or browsing history
Data from other health apps, wearables, or Health Connect
Audio, voice recordings, camera images, or biometric data
Passwords, payment card numbers, or other sensitive identifiers
4. How We Use Information
We use the information described in Section 3 solely to:
Show you general information related to the symptoms you enter
Save your symptom history and preferences on your device
Send reminders you have chosen to turn on
Keep the App working reliably and diagnose crashes and compatibility issues, where analytics are enabled
If applicable: Serve advertising, as described in Section 8
Respond to support requests you send us directly
We do not use your symptom entries or health information to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell your health information to anyone.
5. Health Information and Medical Disclaimer
Not medical advice. The App is intended for general information and education only. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition, and it is not a substitute for professional medical advice, examination, or treatment. Results shown in the App are not a diagnosis and may be incomplete or inaccurate.
Talk to a professional. Always seek the advice of a qualified healthcare provider with any questions about a medical condition. Never disregard professional advice or delay seeking it because of something you read in the App.
Emergencies. If you think you may have a medical emergency, call your local emergency number (such as 911, 112, or 999) or go to the nearest emergency facility immediately. Do not rely on the App in an emergency.
Your health information. Symptoms and health details you enter may be considered sensitive personal information in some jurisdictions. By choosing to enter them, you agree that the App may process them on your device as described in this policy. We are not a healthcare provider, and the App does not create a doctor-patient relationship. You can delete your entered information at any time (see Sections 7 and 10).
6. Permissions We Request, and Why
The App is designed to work with a minimal set of permissions. Here is a complete account of the permissions the App requests:
Internet and network state
Used for: loading ads (if applicable), crash reporting and analytics (if enabled), in-app purchases through Google Play, and checking for updates.
Data handling: your symptom entries and history are not sent over the network by the App.
Notifications
Used for: showing reminders and alerts you choose to turn on. This permission is optional.
You can review or revoke this permission at any time in Android Settings → Apps → Symptomix → Notifications.
Advertising ID
Used for: allowing ad networks to serve and measure ads, if the App displays ads. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in Android Settings → Google → Ads.
Permissions we do not request
The App does not request or use Accessibility Service, location, contacts, camera, microphone, phone or call state, SMS, call logs, or access to your photos and files.
7. Data Storage, Retention, and Security
Where data lives: the symptom entries, health profile, and history you create are stored locally on your device and are not written to a remote database we control.
Retention and deletion: your information stays on your device until you delete it. You can delete individual entries or your full history within the App, or clear the App's data in Android Settings → Apps → Symptomix → Storage. Uninstalling the App removes this local data. Because we do not operate a server-side store of your health entries, there is nothing for us to retain or delete on our end. If analytics or crash reporting are enabled, that data is retained according to the relevant provider's policy (see Section 8).
Device backups: depending on your device settings, Android may include the App's local data in your Google backup. That backup is managed by Google and your device, not by us. You can control it in Android Settings → System → Backup.
Security: we rely on Android's platform-level app sandboxing to protect the information stored by the App. We recommend using a screen lock on your device. No method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we do not introduce a network transmission path for the health information described in Section 3.2.
8. Third-Party Services
8.1 Advertising
If the App displays ads, they are served through third-party ad networks such as [e.g., Google AdMob]. These networks may collect the advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID), device information, and approximate location (if permitted on your device) to serve and measure ads. We do not share your symptom entries, health profile, or history with ad networks, and we do not use them to target ads. This collection is governed by the ad network's own privacy policy, which we encourage you to review:
Google AdMob: https://policies.google.com/privacy
You can opt out of personalized advertising through your device's ad settings at Android Settings → Google → Ads.
8.2 Analytics and Crash Reporting
If enabled, the App may use a service such as [e.g., Firebase Crashlytics / Google Analytics for Firebase] to understand crash patterns and general feature usage. This data is aggregated and is not linked to your symptom entries or health information.
8.3 In-App Purchases
If the App offers in-app purchases or a premium upgrade, payment is processed entirely by Google Play Billing. We do not receive or store your payment card details; Google's privacy policy governs that transaction: https://policies.google.com/privacy
8.4 No sale of personal information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their own marketing purposes.
9. Children's Privacy
Symptom Checker: Symptomix is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us using the details in Section 13 and we will take appropriate steps to remove it.
10. Your Rights and Choices
10.1 All users
Delete your symptom entries and history at any time within the App, or by clearing the App's data in Android Settings.
Turn off reminders or revoke the Notifications permission at any time through Android Settings, as described in Section 6.
Opt out of personalized ads or reset your advertising ID in your device's ad settings.
Uninstall the App at any time, which removes locally stored data.
10.2 European Economic Area (EEA), UK, and Switzerland users (GDPR)
If you are located in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, you have the right to:
Access the personal information we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate information
Request deletion of your information
Object to or restrict certain processing
Request portability of your information, where applicable
Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent
Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority
Because the App does not operate a server-side account system and your health entries stay on your device, most of these rights are exercised directly on your device (see 10.1). For anything else, contact us using the details in Section 13.
10.3 California users (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as defined under the CCPA/CPRA. To exercise any other rights, contact us using the details in Section 13.
10.4 Other jurisdictions
If your local law grants you similar rights not listed above, contact us and we will do our best to accommodate your request consistent with applicable law.
11. International Data Transfers
Because the information described in Section 3.2 is processed on-device and not transmitted to our servers, there is generally no cross-border transfer of that content by us. Where third-party services in Section 8 are enabled, those providers may process data in other countries in accordance with their own privacy policies and applicable safeguards.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect new features or legal requirements. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
