About
SympACT is a conference created by PhD students, for PhD students and early-career researchers in general, broadly centered around symplectic and contact topology. Its goal is to provide a friendly and informal setting where young researchers can meet, exchange ideas, and discuss their respective research topics. We hope this relaxed atmosphere will offer an alternative to traditional conferences, making it easier to meet others at a similar stage in their careers, and even to start new collaborations.
This event will take place from Monday to Wednesday, starting and ending around noon. The format is designed to allow as many participants as possible, in particular second and third year PhD students, to give a 45-minute talk presenting their research. Posters and other forms of presentation are also very welcome.
We would like to emphasize that you do not need to have a large amount of new results to give a presentation. SympACT is intended to be accessible to everyone, with the aim of giving participants a broad overview of the current research in symplectic and contact topology. Talks can therefore focus on introducing a research topic, explaining a particular problem or approach, or sharing work in progress.
This first edition of SympACT will be hosted by Institut de recherche mathématique avancée (IRMA) in Strasbourg, France.
