Syed Abul Basher

I am an economist and independent researcher, with a Ph.D. in Economics from York University, Canada. Previously, I served as a Professor of Economics at East West University (2015-2025) and held several key positions internationally: Research Economist at the Qatar Central Bank (2007-2013), Economic Consultant for the Qatar National Food Security Programme (2010-2012), and Senior Research Fellow at Fikra Research and Policy (2014-2016).

My current research focuses primarily on examining regional economic disparities in Bangladesh, an area that has received insufficient attention in development economics literature. I also conduct research in energy economics and applied time series econometrics.
