'Play' is fundamental to human development and while we lose the opportunities to play as we grow up, our drive to play remains. So Serious takes its inspiration from the patterns, gestures and expressions of children's games and explores the intuition to play that lives inside all of us. Using some familiar favourites like Musical Chairs, Red Light Green Light and Duck Duck Goose, So Serious emphasises eagerness, competitiveness, greed, and joy seen in playing children. Play as the foundational source of creativity is at the heart of So Serious, where the performers are encouraged to relish in silliness and act like their inner child. Additionally, a focus is placed upon the connections made among performers engaged in play. At its core, So Serious shares the importance of playing and aims to create a sense of liveliness and joy to the viewer.
