Code Competition Rulebook


Event Description

Code competition is an inter-college programming competition hosted by St.Xavier's College. It will consist of set of algorithmic challenges to be solved in an allocated amount of time.

Format and Eligibility

+2 students with good knowledge in programming are eligible for the competition. The challenges will be of basic level programming skills and a few of intermediate level skills. This will be a solo competition.

Event Structure

  1. This competition will be held in 2 rounds.
  2. In the first round, Participants will be given 6 problems for which they have to code a solution in 90 minutes. The codes will undergo black box testing (The programs will have to generate correct output for viable inputs).Based on the number of correct outputs per total inputs, points out of 10 points will be given per problem to the participant for a total of 60 points. The top 10 participants will move on to the next round.
  3. In the second round, three algorithmic problems will be given which have to be solved in 60 minutes. These programs will be checked for output (10 points), usage of correct algorithm (10 points), readability (5 points) and compilation time (5 points) for a total of 30 marks per problem and a total of 90 points.
  4. The top 3 participants with the highest number of points will be the winners.

Rules

  1. Participants will have to be present 10 minutes before the competition.
  2. Participants will have to bring their own laptop accessories for the competition. Power sockets will be available. A suitable compiler for the participants chosen language should be installed there.
  3. Participants are allowed to use the following programming languages:
    • C
    • C++
    • C#
    • Java
    • Python
    • Ruby
    • Swift
  4. Use of internet and mobile phones will not be allowed
  5. Participants are allowed to use any libraries except for those capable of directly implementing required algorithms.
  6. Codes cannot be changed after being submitted to the judge.

Disqualification

You may be disqualified from the Contest and forfeit any prizes you may be eligible to receive if Code Competition reasonably believes that you have attempted to undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest, including:

A. Not complying with the terms listed in here.

B. Providing false information to become eligible for the prizes.

C. Misbehaving with other participants or contest administrators at any stage of the tournament.

D. Getting involved in any malicious activity during any stage of the tournament.

E. Sharing or using from others any information about a problem (including its content or solution) before the end of a round unless expressly permitted by the Contest Rules.

Note:

1) Code Competition may cancel or modify the structure, location, and times of the Contest to run the Contest in accordance with these Terms or to prevent an unfair result

2) All decisions made by judges with respect to any aspects of the competition are final. They are not subject to review.
