Reorder the sentence
In Spanish, the order is more variable. Take the example: María entregó el documento.
Entregó el documento María.
Entregó Maria el documento.
El documento lo entregó María.
El documento fue entregado por (parte de) María.
Which of these can be translated word-for-word to English, and which can not? and why not?
Create as many orders to the following sentences as you can. Remember that a main verb can never go before a subject. Doing so would require changing the verb´s role as a part of speech (for example, from verb to gerund)
EX:
The sun darkens your skin. (the sun)
What the sun does is darken your skin. (what the sun does)
Your skin is what the sun darkens. (your skin)
Your skin is darkened by the sun (your skin-passive)
The darkening of your skin is a result of the sun (the darkening)
The envelope goes in the mailbox.
Where the envelope goes is in the mailbox.
The mailbox is where the envelope goes.
The mailbox is where the envelope is put.
I see the therapist on Thursdays.
Whom I see on Thursdays is the therapist.
The therapist is whom I see on Thursdays.

What the letter does is confirm your position.
Your position is what is confirmed by the letter.
The highway ends in 4km.
What the highway does is end in 4 km.
4km is the distance at which the highway ends.
The end of the highway comes in 4km.
The average mattress must be changed every 7-10 years.
A person can sleep on a mattress for 7-10 years.
Changing a mattress should happen every 7-10 years.
7-10 years is the average amount of time a mattress can be slept on.
Should clothes be washed before they are folded?
Should one wash clothes before folding them?
Should the folding of the clothes be done before the washing of them?
Which should be done first, the folding or the washing of clothes?
Has your house been surveyed by the appraiser?
Has the appraiser surveyed your house?
Has the survey of your house been done by the appraiser (yet)?
