A Quest (, Kuesuto?) is an Non-Player Character (NPC)-initiated event that typically leads to a reward after fulfilling a series of set conditions. Certain quests are given via a bulletin board, instead of an NPC.[1][2]
Initiation of an NPC-given quest begins by interacting with NPCs that have a gold ! symbol above them. Usually, a phrase like "Is something troubling you?" is used to accept a quest from an NPC, though this is not the only possible variant and it's not applicable to all quests.[4] Certain quests might also require certain conditions to be met, like accepting an offer for a cup of water, before the quest can be accepted.[4] After a quest is initiated, the respective NPC's gold ! will change into a ?, denoting a quest in progress; however, the quest will not progress unless the quest giver's entire speech, which tends to be rather long during certain quests, is heard.[5][4] Certain quests have side-objectives that need to be completed before the final objective becomes available. All currently available objectives are displayed as golden ! on the map,[6] while the final objective that is currently unavailable is displayed as a grey ! on the map.[7] Once a quest is accepted, the quest appears in the player's quest log with information on the current progress of the quest.

In Sword Art Online, most quests can be completed repeatedly. However, most such quests have a "cooldown time" after the quest is completed before it becomes available again. Certain quests, usually the ones offering high-value rewards, can only be completed once.[5]
The Cardinal System in Sword Art Online and ALfheim Online comes with a feature called Automatic Quest Generation Function. With this feature, the Cardinal System automatically collects folklore and legends of the world, adapts it for the game and continues to generate infinite amounts of quests using proper names and story patterns. These quests can also lead to an "end of the world" event or one that greatly changes the terrain of the world, as the Cardinal System was given authority to change the world of Aincrad to its discretion, seeing as the world was meant to be destroyed in the end anyway. This feature has usually been disabled in ALfheim, but if activated from the management side, the Cardinal System seems to retain the authority of changing the world to its discretion without even getting permission from the management team. Examples of such quests are The Holy Sword of the Ice Palace quest in ALO and the Witch of the West and the Three Treasures quest in SAO.
Dragon Quest Swords utilizes an on-rails first-person battle system. However, instead of a gun, Dragon Quest Swords uses the functions of the Wii Remote as a sword and a shield. The direction of a sword slash or thrust is dependent on the direction the player sways the Wii Remote. The player can also set the focal point for their sword attacks by pointing with the Wii Remote and pushing A. While holding down the B button, the Wii Remote cursor is replaced by a shield. The shield can block any enemy attack if the player points it at the point of impact, which is indicated by red, blue, or yellow markings. Attacks with blue markings can also be repelled by striking them with the sword, which knocks them back at the enemy. If properly timed, the ricocheted attack will damage the enemy; if the timing is slightly off, the attack will miss the enemy, possibly destroying their cover instead.
A special attack, called a master stroke, can be used once the special attack gauge is filled. The gauge is filled by hitting enemies, hitting projectiles back at them, or blocking attacks. When the player initiates a master stroke, they must perform a brief quick time event in which they mimic the motions of the stroke. If the player fails the quick time event, the master stroke is cancelled and the special attack gauge drops down to 90%. Master strokes are learned by tempering swords and getting new swords, while buddy strokes are obtained from the player's current partner. A buddy stroke is a master stroke that can only be performed once that ally has gotten to a certain level, along with being with the hero.
Lacking a means of reaching Xiphos, the heroes decide to focus on restoring the mask. Dao, Claymore's old teacher, says the mask was made in the Mirror World, which can be reached through the Tower of Mirrors. They enter the Mirror World and meet its guardian, Draug. Draug not only repairs the mask, but gives the player character the Rednusadner, a powerful sword that can open the way to Xiphos's castle. Dao teaches him the Figure of Fate, a technique of the Rednusadner which he uses to open a path in the sea of lava. The party makes their way through the sea of lava and the castle to Xiphos. Xiphos has captured Aruval and draws out the part of his soul he had implanted in him. This restores Aruval to normal and gives Xiphos physical form. The party attacks Xiphos and subdues him long enough to place the mask on him. It turns Xiphos into a statue, which the player character shatters with a blow from the Rednusadner. Xiphos's castle starts to crumble. During the party's escape, the hero accidentally drops the mask into the sea of lava. Back in Avalonia, a great party is held in the hero's honor. He makes his way to a balcony and raises the Rednusadner to the sky, causing all the citizens to cheer.

This is a list of all the quests on the First Floor of Aincrad and which NPCs to speak to in order to get. Along with the title of the quests there will be a brief description of the quest, what is needed to be done in order to complete the quest and the rewards given upon completing the quests.
None of theses quests are required to continue through the game, as in order to progress it is the Dungeons that need to be cleared, but may help with learning skills or leveling up. However, due to some Players preferring to Grind may make it difficult for Players to complete their quests.
Currently if there is a ??? next to a Reward, it is because the Admin hasn't decided on an appropriate number. Later on if there is an ??? next to a Reward, then the value depends on chance or specific values of the Player upon completing the quest.
These quests all involve fighting and killing a specific number of monsters that can be found on the First Floor. These quests are found by speaking to NPCs in Hunting Camps located on the outskirts of the Towns of the First Floor. Some of these quests will also involve bringing back some drop items from the monsters, however due to drop rates this may require the Player to hunt and kill more of the monster than the quest requires.
These quests all involve going out and gathering specific items for various reasons. All items can be found on the First Floor. These quests are found by speaking to NPCs in Shops or NPCs standing around the towns.
