1. Who we are
SwimLab ("we," "us," "the App") is a mobile application that generates personalized swim workouts. This policy explains what information the App collects, how it's used, and what choices you have.
2. Information we collect
When you use SwimLab, you may provide:
Profile information: name, age, skill level, training frequency
Performance data: your best recorded times for various strokes and distances
Session inputs: how you're feeling on a given day, and optional free-text notes you write before generating a workout. This field may include things like injuries, soreness, or upcoming events, so please avoid including sensitive medical details you're not comfortable sharing (see Section 5)
Generated content: the workouts the App creates for you, and any you mark as favorites
AI memory notes: optional free-text preferences you add in Settings (e.g., "no butterfly in warm-up")
We do not require you to create an account, and we do not collect your email address, phone number, or precise location.
3. Where your information is stored
Your profile, best times, workout history, and preferences are stored locally on your device using your device's app storage. We do not operate a server-side database of user accounts or profiles. If you uninstall the App or clear its storage, this data is deleted and cannot be recovered by us, because we never had a copy of it.
4. How your information is used, including sharing with a third-party AI provider
When you tap "Generate," the App sends the information relevant to building your workout (your name, age, skill level, how you're feeling, best times, and any notes you've entered) to our backend server, which forwards it to Anthropic to generate your personalized set.
This transmission happens only when you actively request a workout, not continuously or in the background.
Anthropic receives the information included in the workout-generation request. SwimLab does not intentionally send your device identifiers, email address, phone number, precise location, or account information because SwimLab does not collect those types of information.
Anthropic's handling of data submitted through its API is governed by its own policies. You can review them at https://www.anthropic.com/legal/privacy
If our AI service is temporarily unavailable, the App generates your workout using an offline, on-device calculation instead. In that case, no data leaves your device.
We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising or share it with data brokers.
5. Sensitive and health-adjacent information
The notes field lets you describe things like a sore shoulder or an injury so your workout can account for it. Please note:
We do not ask for or require medical information, and you should avoid entering sensitive health details you're not comfortable sharing.
Any notes you enter are treated the same as other session data described above (stored locally, sent to our AI provider only when generating a set).
The App is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice. Consult a qualified professional for injury or health concerns.
6. Children's privacy
SwimLab has an App Store age rating of 13+. The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If you are under 13, please do not use SwimLab or provide any information through the App.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child under 13 has provided information to us, please contact us at swimlab.support@gmail.com and we will help you delete it. Because data is stored locally on the device (Section 3), the fastest way to remove it is directly on the device using the in-app deletion controls in Section 7.
Users aged 13 and older are welcome to use the App in accordance with this policy.
7. Your choices and controls
Because your data lives on your device, you control it directly:
Edit or delete profile data: update it any time in the Profile tab.
Clear AI memory notes: Settings → Clear AI memory.
Clear workout history: Settings → Clear session history.
Delete everything: Settings → Delete account, which wipes all locally stored data and returns you to the welcome screen. This is irreversible.
8. Data retention
We do not retain a server-side copy of your personal data. Anthropic may retain API request data for a limited period consistent with its own policies (see Section 4) for purposes such as abuse monitoring. We do not control this retention directly.
9. Security
Data sent to our backend and to our AI provider is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. International users
If you use SwimLab from outside Canada, information included in a workout-generation request may be processed in other countries, including the United States. Privacy protections in those countries may differ from those in your country of residence.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you within the App.
