Military Technology

At The Beginning

The band soldiers and pilots of The Resistance relied heavily on hit and run tactics to combat the Galactic Empire and the Imperial Union. The primary strategy was to engage in guerrilla warfare, disrupt production and supply lines, and obtain intelligence to support the New Republic. Militarily, the Resistance was forced to make do with outdated and aging equipment unlike the New Republic, and was so undermanned that most of its personnel were forced to do double duty as scanner technicians, droid programmers, starship mechanics and regular foot soldiers. Owing to its lessened pool of manpower, the Resistance placed a greater emphasis on treating the wounded and returning them to duty, and as a result finding medical equipment was a high priority. An army of droids helped keep the Resistance up and running, with many robotic workers given more responsibility and independence than elsewhere in the galaxy and seen as more than just droids, which was a continuation of the ideas of the Rebel Alliance. The upper levels of Resistance command consisted of veterans of the Galactic Civil War. Many top Resistance officers were skilled commanders, determined to cut through the red tape and bring the fight to the Empire. Officers such as William Siethr were treated with great respect by Resistance personnel.

Military Equipment Now

Now, with support from The New Republic, The Resistance fields high level military grade technology in its war against the Galactic Empire and the Imperial Union.

Capital Ships

MC-80B

The MC-80B series is the direct successor to the MC-80A, and was the first in its class produced en mass for combat operations. The 80b sports military-grade primary and secondary reactors. The increased power output allows the ship to operate significantly many more turbolaser, ion batteries and tractor beams. The intent of these upgrades is to give the MC-80b a fighting chance against its nemesis, the Imperial Star Destroyer. Although the upgrades narrowed the gap, the MC-80b doesn't quite match the ISD, given the star destroyer's greater shield and hull strength.

MC-80A

When Mon Calamari joined the war effort on the Rebel Alliance's side, the MC80 line was converted from a passenger liner to a capital ship fit for military duty. Installed were 45 turbolaser, 20 ion batteries and 6 tractor beams. The MC80 already came with a highly advanced sensor package, able to scout out almost an entire system. It also boasts a reinforced hull and improved shielding. The capital ship also has a docking bay and hangar bays to support fighters, freighters and ground vehicles.

Imperial I-class Star Destroyer

Through Operation Corruption, The Resistance was able to secretly produce a number of Imperial class Star Destroyers. These Star Destroyers were constructed in secret deep space shipyards, unknown to the Imperial Security Bureau or Imperial Intelligence. Once finished, they were quickly refitted and equipped for active duty. They spent the next few years traveling in the Unknown Regions and the Outer Rim, engaging in clandestine combat operations against the Empire.

Victory I-class Star Destroyer

Through Operation Corruption, The Resistance was also able to secretly produce a number of Victory class Star Destroyers. Like their sister ships, they were constructed in secret deep space shipyards and quickly refitted and equipped for active duty.

MC-60

The MC-60 is a smaller, lighter cruiser variant of the large MC-80 series of cruisers, which serve as the flagships and main battle cruisers of The New Republic. Its smaller size combined with its more powerful hyperdrive motivator allows the MC-60 to travel the space lanes faster, making it suitable as a mobile base of operations for Resistance commerce raiding operations as well as a capable line ship for task forces.

Dreadnaught-class Heavy Cruiser

Though considered an older ship by some, the Dreadnaught Heavy Cruisers forms a critical system defense and support role in The Resistance fleet. These ships have a strong hull with multiple gun placements, as well as military-grade shielding. With both a hangar and docking bay onboard, as well as large crew facilities, the ship has the capacity to carry a large force onboard for ground assault operations. They an often be found in orbit, defending key Resistance planets.

Strike-class Medium Cruiser

With its fast hyper and sublight speed ratings, as well as their large cargo and crew capacity, Strike-class Medium Cruisers are often used by The Resistance for special operations activities and ground assault missions. Able to rapidly insert and deploy forces almost anywhere in the galaxy, they have become a favorite of Resistance Intelligence operatives.

Support Ships

Although the Mon Calamari cruisers make up the backbone of The Resistance Military Forces' fleet, there are many missions that have different operational requirements. In these instances, The Resistance Military Forces has a large array of support ships to utilize. These include but are not limited to: Ardent-class Fast Frigates and Crusader-class Corvettes for special operations and reconnaissance missions. Verpine-class Heavy Cruisers for troop transport and planetary invasions. Corona-class Frigates and Quasar Fire-class Bulk Cruisers for escort and carrier operations. As well as Hammerhead-class Cruisers for small planetary incursions.
