If you want a lightweight, safety-focused headset with long battery life and wind resistance for outdoor running or cycling, choose SUUNTO WING; if you need a waterproof device with built-in music storage for swimming laps or underwater use, choose Rhyfell Bone Conduction Swimming.
• SUUNTO WING: Its biggest strength is the combination of safety lights and head-movement controls that keep you visible and connected in traffic or dark trails, but it relies entirely on your phone for audio playback since it lacks internal storage.
• Rhyfell Bone Conduction Swimming: Its standout feature is true IP68 submersion capability paired with 32GB of onboard memory so you can swim without a phone, yet it misses out on advanced wind-noise cancellation and external lighting features.
• Who each pick is for: Choose the Suunto Wing for runners and cyclists who prioritize situational awareness and night safety; choose the Rhyfell for swimmers and triathletes who demand a completely cable-free experience in the water.
The SUUNTO WING is engineered specifically for the athlete who moves through the world rather than staying inside a gym. At just 33 grams, this headset disappears on your head, allowing you to wear it comfortably under bike helmets, beanies, or hats without feeling weighed down. The open-ear design is not just a comfort feature; it is a critical safety mechanism. By leaving your ear canal free, you maintain full auditory awareness of your surroundings—cars approaching from behind, other trail users, or changing weather conditions—which is non-negotiable when you are moving fast outdoors.
What truly sets this model apart for exercise enthusiasts is its integrated safety suite. The bright LED lights can be customized via the companion app to flash in different modes, making you highly visible during early morning jogs or late-night rides. This is a feature most standard headphones simply do not offer. Furthermore, the dual microphone system utilizes Clear Voice Capture technology, which actively suppresses wind noise up to 30km/h. If you have ever tried taking a call while sprinting against a gale, you know how frustrating static can be; this technology ensures your voice remains clear even when the wind is howling.

You should buy the SUUNTO WING if your primary workout involves running, cycling, or hiking where visibility and communication matter as much as the music. The battery life supports long sessions with 10 hours of continuous playback, and the fast-charging function gets you back in action quickly—just 10 minutes of charging provides 3 hours of use. However, you should skip this product if you plan to take your workout gear into a pool or open water. While it is rated IP67 for sweat and rain, it is not designed for submersion, and it requires a Bluetooth connection to your phone to play music, meaning you cannot go phone-less in the water.
The Rhyfell Bone Conduction Swimming headphone is built for a very specific environment: water. With a professional IP68 waterproof rating, it is certified to withstand full submersion up to 2-5 meters deep. This makes it an ideal tool for lap swimmers, open-water surfers, or anyone training in triathlons who refuses to let their audio experience stop when they hit the pool. Unlike many sports headphones that merely resist splashes, this unit turns your swim session into a seamless concert hall. You can dive in without worrying about moisture damage, knowing the liquid silicone material will protect the internal components.
A major advantage for the serious athlete here is the massive 32GB of built-in storage. This capacity holds over 8,000 songs, eliminating the need to carry a phone into the water. Syncing your entire workout library takes only minutes thanks to the high-speed transmission, allowing you to switch to MP3 mode instantly. Whether you are doing high-intensity interval training in the pool or surfing in the ocean, you have total freedom from tethered devices. The Bluetooth 6.0 chip also ensures zero-delay pairing when you are back on land, offering a stable connection that keeps your audio perfectly synced with your movement.
This device fits the profile of the dedicated swimmer or the multi-sport athlete who needs one piece of gear to handle everything from dry land to deep water. The ergonomic 28g frame is designed specifically for the swimming population, ensuring a secure fit that won't budge during vigorous strokes. However, if you spend most of your time running on busy city streets at night, you might find the lack of integrated safety lights a significant trade-off compared to other options. Additionally, while the battery offers 10 hours of playtime, it does not support the same rapid-charging utility found in the Suunto Wing, requiring a longer charge cycle of 2 hours to reach full capacity.
• Best for swimming and underwater use → Rhyfell Bone Conduction Swimming (IP68 submersion vs. IP67 splash resistance).
• Best for night safety and visibility → SUUNTO WING (Integrated LED safety lights vs. no lights).
• Best for phone-free workouts → Rhyfell Bone Conduction Swimming (32GB internal storage vs. requires phone connection).

• Best for ultra-lightweight feel → Rhyfell Bone Conduction Swimming (28g vs. 33g, though both are very light).
• Best for hands-free call management → SUUNTO WING (Head movement controls vs. push button controls).
• Best value for versatility → Depends on your sport; Suunto for road/track, Rhyfell for water/triathlon.
After analyzing the specifications and intended use cases for both devices, I would personally buy the SUUNTO WING for my daily exercise routine. The integration of safety lights and wind-noise cancellation addresses the two biggest pain points for outdoor runners: being seen by cars and hearing yourself speak on calls while breathing hard. While the Rhyfell is undeniably superior for swimming, the Suunto Wing offers a more comprehensive package for the general fitness enthusiast who spends the majority of their time on land. It feels like a smarter investment for someone who wants a single pair of headphones that handles rain, wind, and traffic with equal competence.
Both are top-tier options within their specific niches. The Suunto Wing is arguably the best for outdoor land-based activities due to its safety features, while the Rhyfell is the best choice for aquatic training because of its waterproofing and internal storage.
You must bring your phone for the SUUNTO WING as it has no internal music storage. With the Rhyfell, you can leave your phone at home because the 32GB internal memory allows you to store thousands of songs directly on the device.
Both are built for athletes. The SUUNTO WING is IP67 rated to handle heavy sweat and rain, while the Rhyfell goes further with an IP68 rating that allows full submersion in water up to 5 meters deep.
Yes, the SUUNTO WING features a fast charging function that delivers 3 hours of playtime from just 10 minutes of charging. The Rhyfell requires a full 2-hour charge cycle to reach its maximum battery life.
