Alex completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science at University College Cork. During her undergraduate studies, she gained valuable industry experience through work placements in quality control and laboratory analysis within the food manufacturing sectors.
Alongside her academic background, Alex runs a small baking business, and Instagram page, which has strengthened her skills in recipe development, and food preparation. Her passion for nutrition, brings a blend of scientific knowledge, practical kitchen skills, and enthusiasm to every project she undertakes.
In the Sustainable Food System Research Group in UCC, Alex is developing food products and recipes that contain upcycled vegetable by-products as part of the project UPCYCLED funded by Unigreen.
