Bio: Surya Pratap Singh was born in Uttar Pradesh, India in 1996. He has done his B. Sc. (Hons.) in Chemistry in 2016 from the University of Delhi, New Delhi, India. He then moved to Hyderabad and completed his M. Sc. in Chemistry in 2018 from the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT Hyderabad), Telangana, India. He received a scholarship under the FRIENDSHIP Scholarship Program by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to pursue his higher studies in Japan and joined Kyoto University, Japan as a 'Research student' in Oct 2018. He then continued at the Hisao Yoshida Laboratory at Kyoto University as a Ph.D. student starting from Apr 2019 and graduated in Mar 2022. The title of his Ph.D. thesis is "Non-oxidative conversion of methane and ethane over the metal oxide photocatalysts." Currently, he is working as a specially appointed assistant professor at the Tokyo Metropolitan University, Hachioji, Tokyo, Japan. His current research interest is the application of electrocatalysis and photoelectrocatalysis for energy and chemicals. He is a member of the Chemical Society of Japan (CSJ) and the Catalysis Society of Japan (CATSJ).
