It is a bit rough right now (hence why I consider it in "beta") but I hope to make some design updates in the future. Thanks to the mods for providing some data on the set-list and past surprise songs! If you notice any bugs, typos, or any other issues feel free to reach out to me! "No Surprise" is a song recorded by American rock band Daughtry for their second studio album, Leave This Town (2009). It was released May 6, 2009 as the album's lead single, and the band debuted the song on American Idol that night.[1] Chris Daughtry wrote the song with Chad Kroeger, Joey Moi, Eric Dill, and Rune Westberg, while Howard Benson handled the production.

The song was a commercial success in the United States, reaching a peak position of 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 and becoming the group's fourth number one hit on the magazine's Adult Pop Songs airplay chart. It also charted well internationally, peaking at number 13 on the Canadian Hot 100 and being certified Gold by Music Canada, in addition to attaining top 40 positions in Australia, Japan, New Zealand, and Sweden.

Lyrically, the song details the overdue end of an unhealthy relationship and has been described as "anthemic."[7][4][3] The narrator appears to have mixed feelings about the breakup, with the chorus alternating between sentimental reflection ("you and I will be a tough act to follow") and relief ("It's no surprise I won't be here tomorrow / Can't believe that I stayed 'til today").[6]

Bill Lamb from About.com was positive in his review on the song, giving it four out of five stars and indicating that "No Surprise" is "possibly stronger than any of the singles off their four million selling debut album".[8]

"No Surprise" debuted at number fifteen on the Billboard Hot 100 the chart week of May 23, 2009. It is the band's highest debut to date on the chart, fueled by strong first week digital sales of 106,000.[9] It is also the band's fifth top twenty hit on the Hot 100, and their highest-charting song since "Home". In addition, it debuted at number 39 on the Adult Pop Songs chart with less than a week of airplay.[10] For the week of August 27, the song hit number-one, becoming the band's fourth number-one single on the Adult Top 40. Only Nickelback has more number ones with five.[11] The song also reached the top 10 on the Adult Contemporary and Pop Songs charts. As of January 2011, the song has sold over 1,201,000 digital copies in the United States.[12]

On the Canadian Hot 100, "No Surprise" debuted at number thirteen, also making it their fifth top twenty hit in that country. The single was certified Gold by Music Canada in July 2009. The song has also charted moderately well internationally, peaking at 34 in Australia, 45 in Austria, 62 in Germany, 22 in Japan, 22 in New Zealand, and 35 in Sweden.

"hi @taylorswift13 its been 5 years today since my brother died," she tweeted. "I have tickets to see you tonight in A13, row 14. it would mean EVERYTHING to me if you could please sing daylight as one of the surprise songs. i love you soo much and youre going to make this hard day better."

The woman shared a reaction video of the moment Swift began singing the song, which appears on Swift's 2019 album "Lover." The fan said the "hard day" was perfect because of Swift and added that she knew her brother was there with her in spirit.

"I'm 33 years old. I don't care about anything that happened to me when I was 19," she said during the show. "I'm not putting this album out so you can go on the internet and defend me against someone you think I wrote a song about someone 14 million years ago."

One of our greatest Americana and blues singers and guitarists, at 73 Raitt has picked up her share of trophies through the years. Still, no one was more surprised than she was to win the award for her song dedicated to her beloved friend and collaborator John Prine, who died in April 2020, and inspired by a story she saw on the news about an organ donor that encapsulated for her the pain and perseverance of the past several years.

This combo rivals the shock value of the folklore surprise album drop in 2020. We never thought she'd play "Dear John," the infamous name-dropping breakup song she hasn't played nor acknowledged since the Speak Now world tour. And just as we were beginning to process the guitar song, we hear the opening lyrics of Lover favorite "Daylight," complete with the soaring bridge vocals that Lover in Paris didn't have. Lives were changed in Minneapolis. Rumor has it that there are people (us) still recovering, months later.

Good news Australian Swifties! Taylor Swift has announced that she will be refreshing the slate of her surprise songs for 2024, opening out her huge discography once more to be played at the Eras Tour.

The announcement has been a long time coming for international fans, who have been anxiously running the numbers and realising that Swift has more dates than she does songs (which is saying something about how long this tour will run for).

During night 1, Swift sang "I'm Only Me When I'm With You" from her 2006 debut album as her first surprise song of the night. When she moved to the piano, she sang the title track from her album "Evermore."

While it did not happen Friday night, fans were hoping for a surprise guest to go along with Swift's surprise songs. Cincinnati native and The National member Aaron Dessner works frequently with the "Lover" singer, producing and co-writing songs on her albums "Folklore," "Evermore," "Fearless (Taylor's Version)," "Red (Taylor's Version) and "Midnights (3am Edition)."

On Saturday, fans did get two surprise guests. The entire show was moved an hour forward on Saturday due to inclement weather, which meant Gracie Abrams opening set was cut. Due to this, Swift invited Abrams out during her surprise songs part of the show to sing Abrams' "I miss you, I'm sorry." Other than the duet with Abrams, Swift played "Ivy," which is another "Evermore" track, with Dessner.

Swift has 16 shows left in her Eras Tour, meaning Swifties will be blessed with at least 32 more surprise songs. With the release of "Speak Now (Taylor's Version)" on July 7, we can bet Swift is sure to pull out more songs from the album, which is a re-recording of her third release.

Swift started Saturday night's surprise set list with "Ivy," which features Cincinnati native and "The National" musician Aaron Dessner. Dessner joined Swift on stage for the song, which had never been performed live before Saturday night.

While her surprise songs are usually ones she wrote, Swift called up opening act Gracie Abrams to perform Abrams' song, "I Miss You, I'm Sorry." This marked the first song Swift has performed that is not her own.

Swift said she relates to "Speak Now" more as an adult, describing her songwriting process at the time as "cinematic" and using a lyric from "Mine" as an example: "There's a drawer of my things at your place."

"Those are things that I was not partaking in at 18 and 19 when I wrote these songs, but it's been such a privilege and such a treat to go back and rerecord them," she continued. "It's really crazy to go back and listen to these songs that at the time were fantasy but now feel really relatable to me."

Before performing "Gold Rush" as the first surprise song in Philadelphia, Swift clarified an oft-debated lyric: "I see me padding across your wooden floors / With my Eagles T-shirt hanging from the door."

"I didn't really mess this one up badly or embarrassingly, but I did play it before, and I thought I could've done it in a higher key," she told the crowd. "This is a song that I felt like, just based on what I've seen from you guys, that you might want to hear."

The titular subject of "Dorothea" may have been inspired by Dorothy from "The Wizard of Oz," making it fitting surprise song for Kansas City ("I have a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore," she says in the film).

Swift's other surprise song was \"Dear John,\" from her 2010 album \"Speak Now.\" It was the first time in 11 years that she'd performed the song, written about her ex John Mayer, for a live concert.

If you don't know, every night on the Eras Tour, Swift sings two songs that are not on the setlist. This song could be from any of her 10 studio albums. Swift has already played 40 shows so far on this leg of the tour. That means she has sung 80 surprise songs so far.

So what surprise songs are left for Denver? Well, there are still a handful of songs that Swift can perform in the Mile High City. Plus Swift just released "Speak Now (Taylor's Version)" which included six new songs.

Before she started, Swift said the song was one of her hardest to play lyrically. She warned the audience that she had never sung it successfully and said that even after practicing, she might not get it right for the show.

Swift made it about three quarters of the song before slightly flubbing the lyrics. She paused, she sighed, she exasperatedly looked to the sky, and she smiled as the crowd roared their undying support. They weren't going to let one minor slip-up get in the way of their good time.

Swift and Dressner successfully finished the song on their second try.

In the studio version, Swift is joined by Hayley Williams of Paramore. Williams was supposed to have been in the Bay Area last week but had to cancel due to illness. One wonders because of the timing and song choice if a surprise appearance of Williams had been planned before the Paramore cancellation.

"This one's from '1989,'" Taylor Swift said to some 70,000 fans on the second night of her Eras Tour stop in Nashville. She was strumming her guitar and in the middle of a sportive preamble to the first surprise song of the show. "It's got kind of one of those choruses where you say the same thing over and over and over again." The crowd's screams drowned out everything after the first "over." The secret was up. The surprise song had been unveiled. The stadium was ready to sing "Out of the Woods" and to bask in the glory of their loot. 17dc91bb1f
