Hi. I am Surendra Kumar Verma, pursuing my postdoctoral studies at Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. I am a KILLAM postdoctoral research fellow in the school of Biomedical Engineering.
I completed my Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from the Department of Chemical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, Mumbai, India, under the supervision of Prof. Jayesh Bellare. The best thesis award was given for my PhD research work. My research area is biomaterials for biomedical application. In case of organ damage or failure, there is a need of temporary support until the suitable organ donor is available. The objective of my PhD thesis was to develop bioartificial organ such as liver and kidney. We have developed and tested lab scale bioreactor to support kidney and liver. The study has been published in various prestigious journals.
Currently, I am working on contact drawn fiber technology. My research areas are deep skin wound healing graft, skin peeling rare disease and blood clotting patches.
