Sombra is very manipulative, deceptive and clever, using her expertise to her advantage at all times. She is unafraid to manipulate people to get what she wants, as shown in Infiltration where she lies to her allies about failing the mission and even blackmails Katya to her will. Her flirty encounter with Ana implies that she is attracted to her.
In battle, she comes off as cool-headed, imperturbable, and unafraid, sometimes egotistical, arrogant, smug, and cheeky. But even in the middle of a serious mission she still shows herself as a rather playful, entertaining, and whimsical character.
livia Colomar was one of the thousands of children left orphaned in the aftermath of the Omnic Crisis, collected and then forgotten by the system that was put in place to help them. She made it work for her though, her natural gift for hacking and computers helped her manipulate those around her with the information she found. Considering the country's destroyed infrastructure, it wasn't too difficult to do whatever she wished.
No one was safe from her influence or reach, and she used them to make friends in ALL the right places, namely with the notorious Los Muertos gang.
Taken in by Los Muertos, Olivia used her expertise to help them in their self-styled revolution against Mexico's government; believing that it was rebuilt for the rich and powerful, while leaving those who really needed assistance behind.
For years, she works with them under the alias Azucar, donning the same glow in the dark skeletal tattoos that the rest of the gang members sported. She was so confident in her conquests that she was caught completely unprepared when she stumbled into the web of a global conspiracy-- one that had also noticed her.
With her security irreparably compromised, Oliva was forced to delete all traces of her identity and go into hiding.
She later reemerged as Sombra, or the Sombra Collective to some, upgraded and determined to find out the truth behind the conspiracy she had uncovered. Sombra launched an even more audacious string of hacks, and her exploits earned her no shortage of admirers, including Talon.
She joined the organization's ranks and is believed to have assisted Reaper in the kidnapping of Dr, Siebren de Kuiper, besides contributing to massive cyberattacks against corporations with strong ties to the government. These efforts incited a popular revolution in Mexico against LumeriCo and breached the security of Volskaya Industries, the manufacturing arm of Russia's anti-omnic defense.
The Volskaya mission in particular highlighted Sombra's questionable alliances. Going rogue on an assassination mission against the company's CEO, Sombra blackmailed her instead. In return, Katya Volskaya sent her own powerful ally, Zarya, after the hacker. Though Zarya was successful in finding Sombra, Sombra revealed Katya's secret dealings with omnics and escaped.
Once Doomfist released himself form prison and reworked Talon's inner council, Sombra played an important part in the renewed organization, which, more importantly, brought her a few steps closer to her own goal. Olivia led digital terrorism efforts that directly enabled Doomfist to complete his missions in high-value areas such as Rome and Numbani.
Whatever services she provides for Talon, only a fool would forget that Sombra's agenda is her own. But while Sombra remains on the hunt for her prey, Talon gets the best hacker money can't buy.
Once Doomfist was deposed and Vendetta took control of Talon, Sombra had no desire to serve in her organization, choosing to leave on her own terms. However, with Sigma still held prisoner by Talon, she continues to operate from the shadows, keeping a careful eye on every situation about to unfold.
