Cunning, methodical, and highly intelligent, Match possesses the raw knowledge and tactical training that Superboy lacked – a result of Match’s more complete gestation process. Created to be an improved version of the original, Match has a narcissistic streak a mile long, believing he is perfect and better than everyone else, in every way.
Match regards others with little emotion, only really finding the idea of people as a way to further his own goals, though he can become sweet and thoughtful under certain circumstances, mainly when shown consistent care and affection despite his actions.
Genetic Enhancement by The Agenda: While being cloned from Superboy, The Agenda enhanced Match’s genetics to be more powerful than his predecessor, along with having greater skill at mastering his abilities. Match possesses all the powers of Superboy, but to a higher level of strength and proficiency. These include: super strength, invulnerability, flight, super speed, heat vision, x-ray vision, and super hearing.
Gifted Intelligence: Being a clone of Superboy, Match inherited the intellect of Lex Luthor and the higher intellect of the Kryptonian race, along with more extensive knowledge implanted by The Agenda, making him highly intelligent in many fields well past his physical age.
Tactile Telekinesis: Like Superboy, Match is able to telekinetically manipulate any object / person he touches or is within his vicinity, along with being able to disassemble objects with a touch. But unlike Superboy, because of the enhancements made to his genetics and longer gestation period, Match's expertise and control is much more advanced than that of his predecessor. So much so that Match is able to affect others even without making physical contact first, and can bend the light around him to become invisible or project illusions around himself, i.e. making himself look identical to Superboy to infiltrate Young Justice.
Match is the creation of The Agenda, a secretive, worldwide cabal of scientists whose true goal is a mystery. Led by the immortal Contessa, Lex Luthor’s estranged wife, and Directors Alpha, Beta, and Gamma, The Agenda first made their presence known when they captured Superboy and cloned Match from samples of Superboy’s DNA. The Agenda created Match to be an improved version of the teen of steel, a superior lifeform to Superboy in every way imaginable.
Seeing Match as a “brother”, Superboy pleaded with the teen powerhouse – but Match’s near-absolute loyalty to the Agenda blinded him to reason. Possessing more raw power and skill than Superboy, Match nearly defeated his genetic twin during their first encounter before Match was apparently buried in The Agenda’s original underground facility.
When Superboy is dying due to the destabilization of his DNA, Superman and Steele search the wreckage of the Agenda base for a way to save him, finding Match hidden in the debris. They attempt to take him with them back to CADMUS to help Superboy, but he refuses and fights them, telling them that he was the better version and that Superboy should die. When pressed, Match refuses again, and disappears.
Later, as part of the Agenda’s massive campaign against the young heroes, Match infiltrated Young Justice disguised as Superboy. He nearly succeeded in his efforts to drive a wedge between the team members before his ruse was exposed by the return of the real Kid of Steel. Once exposed, Match fled.
Match attempted to infiltrate Young Justice a second time, after being poisoned with Joker Venom, while Superboy was away and planned to kill the remaining members in a ‘comical’ manner. But his plans were foiled when no one took him seriously, believing that the real Superboy was attempting to lighten the mood after the resignation of both Robin and Impulse from the team. Match later flees after Wonder Girl accidentally confesses her love for Superboy, but Match thinks the confession was for him.
Once healed of the Joker venom, Match's mental state stabilized, leaving behind the rambling and raving insanity that had tossed him into obsession.
After the death of the Countessa and the supposed disbandment of The Agenda, Match was left to wander the world alone and without a purpose.
