NAME: Kirk Langstrom.
AGE: 36.
DOB: tba.
NATIONALITY: American.
SPECIES: Human Mutate / Vampire.
GENDER: Male.
OCCUPATION: Vigilante / hero.
HEIGHT: 5'9".
HAIR: dark brown / black.
EYES: red / were blue.
FACECLAIM: adrien brody.
Kirk is a very blunt, no-nonsense kind of person. He has always been an introvert, preferring the company of his research and data than that of other people.
He tends to keep people at arm's length, not wanting to get too attached considering his trauma from his parents.
It got worse after his transformation, keeping to himself in the Tower of Justice or his own hideout in Gotham, when not out taking care of criminals. No one really saw him outside of the other Leaguers or William and Tina. He prefers to keep it this way.
Pseudo-Vampirism: Though he does exhibit the traditional powers and hunger for blood associated with ‘true’ Vampires, he wasn’t turned by another Vampire. It was the result of an untested serum to try and cure his lymphoma that turned him. Because of this, he can’t infect others with his vampirism, and he’s the only one of his kind, as far as he knows.
Enhanced Senses: Kirk’s senses are a lot more powerful than that of a normal human. He now sees mostly in the infrared range, which helps when patrolling at night. His hearing is greatly increased as well, being able to hear a heartbeat or footsteps from several yards away.
Claws & Fangs: Kirk developed both as part of his pseudo-vampirism, as a way to easily rip into someone for their blood or to maul them.
Superhuman Durability: Kirk can shrug off injuries that would severely injure a normal human being, and is highly resistant to pain. This has allowed him to not be weakened or crippled by attacks by normal humans, as well as withstand being shot or stabbed with little effect.
Superhuman Strength: Kirk’s strength level is several times that of a normal human being, but not truly on par with his partners Superman and Wonder Woman. His inhuman strength allows him to easily overpower, lift, throw, and even maul normal humans, to the point of sending them flying through the air with his attacks or stab a person with his bare hand.
Superhuman Agility: Kirk is significantly faster and more agile than a normal human being, and can easily dodge bullets, laser weapons, and avoid physical combat strikes.
Flight: Kirk is capable of at least some level of self-propelled flight, though he uses artificial wings built into his costume to aid him in this. He is also capable of levitating along with his partners Superman and Wonder Woman without using his wings.
Suit: Custom made, it was a gift from Hernan when he took Kirk in. It’s bullet-proof, and protects him from most projectiles or energy weapons that he might encounter, and it’s hard to pierce or slash through. It also has a pair of artificial wings that can be used for sustained/distance flight, along with red tinted goggles that protect his eyes from excess light and help filter through the infrared spectrum.
Kirk Langstrom was born and raised in Ellis, Nebraska and though he was content, he wasn’t happy. His father had wanted a son more like him; instead Kirk was a brilliant, if sickly, little boy who excelled in biology and computer sciences, the complete opposite of what his father had hoped for.
His father’s disappointment didn’t dissuade him though, excelling in his schooling and earning many awards, leading to him getting a scholarship to Gotham University. With his high intelligence and thirst for knowledge, Kirk eventually joined the group known as "Luthor's Boys", along with his best friend and fellow student William Magnus.
An introvert by nature, Kirk would have rather stayed in the lab than meet other people, leaving William and his girlfriend Tina, as his only friends. He was fine with that, though. They care for him in a way that his parents never really had, so why mess with something that wasn’t broken?
Kirk devoted most of his time to trying to find a cure for his Lymphoma, using the anticoagulant properties found in the saliva of the vampire bat to break down the tumor, but his serums always fell apart before they could finish the job.
When his sickness worsened, he reached out to William to combine their projects. Introducing William’s nanotech as a bonding agent, they were able to create a viable serum that seemed to be exactly what he had been searching for. At least, that’s what the initial results showed in testing.
Kirk wasted no time using the serum on himself, deciding it was now or never, considering how fast his sickness was progressing. What he never could have anticipated was the side effects of such a reckless action.
Within hours, Kirk’s cancer had been cured. But at what cost?
In the delirium caused by the serum taking effect, Kirk’s biology changed, the unforeseen consequences of rushing making themselves known. Skin deathly pale and eyes a deep red, he looked like a walking corpse; plus a bone deep ache that could only really be described as a hunger that permeated his entire being. He found he could move faster than any human, and had a strength that could rival that of a comic book character, while his vision shifted between the normal spectrum to infrared.
This kind of power scared him; the thought of being around his friends or them seeing him like this horrified him.
So… he ran.
Months pass. Kirk wandered the dark streets of Gotham City, living off the blood of rats and whatever else he could find. One night while he hunted what meager prey could be found at the docks, he was approached by a man with piercing blue eyes and a long coat that fluttered behind him as he hovered over him.
Superman.
It’s been about 10 years since he was found by the alien, and since then he’s made some strides in his work. The denizens of Gotham City are split on their view of him; some fear him absolutely, yet others idolize him, though to some degree many still believe he’s nothing more than a myth. Not that he really cares, he does his best work in the dark.
Media outlets the world over now refer to him as Batman; a name he would have never chosen for himself, but approved of, nonetheless.
After the incident with William and his Metal Men, Kirk followed Superman’s supposed change of heart, assisting him in implementing Kryptonian technology to create medical and scientific advancements.
Kirk only leaves the Tower of Justice when needed, but can also be found doing his own work in Gotham from time to time.
