Lisa Sims, Lead Faculty, Forbes School of Business & Technology, Web & Mobile App Emphasis.
Lisa is the lead faculty advisor for the UAGC Women in STEM Club. Lisa has worked in software development and founded a small business technology company. Additionally, Lisa has authored eight books.

Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) helps us discover creative and innovative solutions to life’s questions and problems. She will share what and how STEM/STEAM is used in our everyday lives.
Presenter:
Teresa Handy, Assistant Professor at UAGC for the Master of Arts in Early Childhood Education Leadership program.
She is the former Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Director for a private school in Memphis, TN, and authored a children’s book about diversity.

Literature Connections-Using Literature to Support Courageous Conversations. Literature is a great way to start courageous conversations in the early childhood classroom. The speaker will highlight three books teachers can use in the early childhood classroom and offer strategies for teachers to navigate courageous conversations with young children. She will offer tips and activities for teachers.
Presenter:
Keanna Allert, the Center Director of Lindamood-Bells’ Memphis Learning Center.
Ms. Allert has over fifteen years of experience working with children to help them improve their language and literacy.

This session explores the imagery-language foundation for reading and language comprehension, highlighting evidence-based practices to support students’ learning needs. This session is supported by key research findings and 35 years of instructional experience.
