As a reminder, ED Talks® are fashioned after TED talks, the ever-popular way of sharing personal stories for only 18 minutes of monolog. We do this because we want to spark and hear audience stories, and we can best do that by sharing our stories. Our goal here is not necessarily to teach anyone anything new, as our audience members are already experts in their field. Our goal is to perhaps motivate them to try something new in the approach to helping students or team members succeed. Our story-telling approach is geared to not take a lot of time, but rather to simply to share and visit, and perhaps encourage listeners to encourage students in some new way! Toward the end of each ED Talk® , we will open up the chat and video lines fully for Q&A and sharing out.

While many, if not all, of the personal stories of our ED Talkers throughout the years tend to bring forward emotions, as we sometimes laugh, smile, cry, or feel our empathy in a strong way, for this session, we want to let you know that the story you are about to listen to includes sensitive content that some individuals may find difficult listen to.

ED Talks® are not your traditional professional development webinar. Our approach is geared to not take a lot of your time, but to set the stage for online instructors and professionals supporting students to reflect and consider empowering or encouraging students in a new way. ED Talks® are fashioned after TED Talks, the ever popular way of sharing concepts through personal story-telling. Our goal here is not necessarily to teach you anything new, as you are already an expert in your field. We are here instead to perhaps motivate you to try something new in your approach to student success.
