Most of these games create a directory in the home folder that holds configurations and other game data. They are generally hidden directories (ie they start with a period) You can browse to your home and set View-Show Hidden checked. Now all hidden should be shown. Look for folder like .supertux. Delete it. This should bring things back to default.

SuperTux is free, open source and is available for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X. You can get it from the downloads page (it's probably best to search your package manager application for supertux if you are on Linux though).

@colinkeenan The latest version of supertux doesn't seem to require the hack anymore -- it works for me without any changes. If it isn't working in a clean chroot, perhaps adding 'freetype2' to the list of dependencies is necessary?

Found another solution: inside supertux directory CMakeLists.txt line 409 change "--with-freetype-prefix=${FREETYPE_DIR}" parameter to "--with-freetype-prefix=/usr". Now, please, check if it works for you and make appropriate patch for CMakeLists.txt I am not smart enough for that :)

Super Tux stores its configuration and data (like save games) files under $HOME/.supertux (where $HOME is your user's home directory). All of it can be configured in-game and you do not need to edit any files in there. The in-game configuration can be done running the game, then choosing the Options menu. There you can configure: Graphics Mode (OpenGL/SDL), toggle fullscreen mode on/off, Enable or Disable Sound and Music, Show FPS (Frames Per Second) and do a Keyboard Setup (changing what keyboard keys do in the games' action).

At this point you have a supertux/build/supertux2 binary from which you can play the game. If you want to install this version you use sudo make install; but you likely need to remove an existing supertux package (or customize the installation directory). e24fc04721
