Smash "C" Falls to UAlbany "A"

Coming off the first win in program history, SUNY Potsdam's "C" team for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate lost a hard fought crew battle to the University at Albany's "A" squad by a 3-0 score.

The matchup was rescheduled from Monday, October 14 to Thursday, October 17 to accommodate SUNY Potsdam's annual Fall Recess for students.

UAlbany started Round 1 with two straight wins by Lucina over Wolf (Sarah Johns) 3-0 and Bowser (Adam Hartmann) 3-1 before a 1-1 draw with Wolf (Griffin Shenkel) in the third match. Shenkel would drop a 2-1 decision to Mario in the fourth match and Albany won the round 3-1.

Round 2 was a similar start for the Great Danes as Zero Suit Samus claimed 3-1 victories in the first two matches over Greninja (Alexis Diaz) and Snake (Patrick Silk). ZSS would battle to a 1-1 draw with Bowser (Hartmann) in the third match.

Albany would clinch the round in the fourth match with a 2-1 Lucina victory over Bowser.

The battle's third round started with a 3-0 Mario victory over Wolf (Johns). The Brooklyn plumber donned in red then earned a 2-2 draw with Greninja (Diaz) before falling to Snake (Silk) 1-0 in the third match.

Snake kept the momentum going with a 3-2 win over Joker in the fourth match before ZSS ended the battle with a 1-0 victory in the fifth match to claim the round and the battle for UAlbany.

SUNY Potsdam returns to the Smash battleground on October 21 when they take on Sacred Heart University's "B" team.
