Whiteboard Art: Football Poll

This project involved drawing whiteboard art that engaged the students by showing them something they found cool and/or getting them to answer a question.

Super Bowl whiteboard art that shows a football player in the middle of the whiteboard holding a football. He is not branded with a team because the poll below asks which team the residents are rooting for, Steelers, Browns, or Bills. The whiteboard also has quotes that surround the football player. They read: “It’s not the size of the dog in the fight , but the size of the fight in the dog.” -Archie Griffin. “If what you did yesterday seems big, you haven’t done anything today.” - Lou Holtz. “When you’re good at something, you’ll tell everyone. When you’re great at something, they’ll tell you.” - Walter Payton. “A champion is simply someone who did not give up when they wanted to.” -Tom Landry. “Winning is not everything - but making the effort to win is.” - Vince Lombardi. “The harder you work, the harder it is to surrender.” -Marv Levy.

I decided to draw a football player because at the time it was around the Super Bowl and a lot of people were talking about the Steelers, the Browns, and the Bills. So I wanted to capitalize on it to see if I could get some interaction on the whiteboard.

The goal of designing the poll In the form of a football field was to make it look cooler and the more people who wanted a team to win would push them to get to the touchdown.

And it worked because this was the result:

The whiteboard art results. The Steelers got to the 20 yard line closest to the touchdown, so 15 people wanted them to win. The Browns got to the 10 yard line, which was 17 people. And the Bills did not have anyone rooting for them. One person added a box for the Patriots as well. Another person added the Bengals and there were three boxes for that team.

In addition to the Browns winning the poll, a lot of other things were added like hashtags or comments about the SuperBowl. It was very successful.
