This project involved creating a bulletin board in the residence hall that would showcase something useful to the residents. It would stay up for a month.
The reason behind making the bulletin board is a place to put information as well as it being something decorative on the walls of the hall.
The inspiration for the bulletin board is the Mosters Inc. movie.
I wanted It to look like the intro to the movie with all the doors. So I planned that each door would open to some information about the Allies LGBTQ+ club.
I first created the arrows to replace a border then drew and colored each door. I also cut by hand each of the bell shapes for the green monster.
I cut out the letters from the materials for bulletin boards then pasted with double sided tape or stapled all the paper elements on the board. I used a paperclip and thumbtack to close the doors.
The door reads: Queer Women in History. Audre Lorde, Sally Ride, Toto Koopman, Edythe Eyde, Barbara Jordan, Alice Dunbar-Nelson, Louise Lawrence, and Mercedes De Acosta.
It reads: September 16-23 is Bisexual Awareness Week. #BiWeek seeks to accelerate acceptance of the bi+ community. #BiWeek draws attention to the experiences, while also celebrating the resiliency of the bisexual+ community.
It reads: Black LGBTQ+ Icons. Marsha P Johnson, Bayard T Rustin, Alvin Ailey, Miss Major Griffin-Gracy, Phill Wilson, Andrea Jenkins, Alphonso David, Bessie Smith, and Kylar Broadus.
It reads: September 18th is National HIV/AIDS Awareness Day. It is a day to call attention to the growing number of people living long and full lives with HIV.
