We collect and process the following information to provide our app’s features:
Location Data (Precise Location)
Required to calculate the sun’s and moon’s position based on your current place on Earth. Used for features such as map tracking, compass alignment, and astronomical data calculations.
Camera Data
Used only within the app for AR (Augmented Reality) features to show the sun’s and moon’s path in live camera view. We do not store or transmit camera footage.
Notification Data
We use Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) to send optional notifications (such as app updates & reminders) to encourage users to explore app features.Device identifiers (e.g., push tokens) are used only for delivering notifications and are not shared or sold.
Device Identifiers (Ad ID):
Used for analytics and advertising purposes in compliance with Google Play policies.
To calculate accurate sun and moon tracking results.
To enable AR camera features for visualization.
To provide notifications/reminders via Firebase.
To improve app performance and user experience.
We do not sell personal data under any circumstances.
Location and camera data are processed in real-time only and not stored on our servers.
Notification tokens are retained as long as you use the app or until you disable notifications.
We retain data only as necessary to provide our services and comply with legal obligations.
Depending on your location, you may have specific rights:
GDPR (EU users): Right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your data.
CCPA (California users): Right to know if data is sold/shared (we do not sell data) and right to opt out.
LGPD (Brazil users): Right to confirm, access, correct, delete, or revoke consent for data use.
VCDPA (Virginia users): Right to opt out of targeted advertising, profiling, or data sharing.
You can exercise these rights anytime by contacting us.
5. Permissions We Request
Location Permission: To calculate sun and moon position data. We updated the Privacy Policy to explicitly state: The app collects Precise Location Data via ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION. This data is required for sun/moon position tracking, compass alignment, and AR camera overlays. The data is processed in real-time only and is not stored or shared beyond the device, except when required by law.
Since Precise Location qualifies as Sensitive Data under laws like CCPA:
We clearly explained that this information is collected for astronomical calculations and AR visualization only. It is not sold or shared with third parties. Users can deny or revoke location permissions at any time via device settings (though this may limit features).
Camera Permission: The app requires the Camera permission because the AR feature needs live camera access to display the sun and moon path accurately. This permission is strictly limited to AR functionality and is not used for background recording, storage, or sharing. By keeping the permission limited to its core purpose, the app ensures both functionality and user privacy.
Notification Permission: To send helpful reminders and updates via Firebase.
All permissions are optional but disabling them may limit app functionality.
The Privacy Policy clearly states that users have the right to know if their personal data is shared, disclosed, or sold. For this app:
We do not sell personal data.
Data may be shared only with Firebase (Google LLC) for notifications and crash reporting.
Users can contact us via the support email appsa5992@gmail.com to request details of any third-party data sharing.
How to opt-out of data sale/targeted ads
We added a clear opt-out process in the Privacy Policy:
Users can disable personalized ads through device settings (Google Ad Settings).
Users can opt-out of notifications inside the app or by device settings.
For data-sharing opt-out (where applicable), users can email our support for processing requests under CCPA/VCDPA.
Precise Location – used for calculating the sun and moon’s position, compass alignment, and AR overlays.
Camera – used only for displaying AR features (live sun and moon path). No footage is stored or transmitted.
Device Identifiers / Advertising ID – used for ads delivery, analytics, and crash reporting in compliance with Google Play policies.
Notification Token – used exclusively for sending reminders and important app updates via Firebase.
Location data is collected to provide accurate astronomical calculations and compass alignment.
Camera data is required for AR visualization of sun and moon paths.
Device IDs are processed for analytics, ads, and crash diagnostics only.
Notification tokens are used to deliver reminders, feature updates, and alerts.
Location Permission – required for sun/moon tracking and compass alignment.
Camera Permission – required for AR visualization.
Notification Permission – required for sending reminders and updates.
All permissions are optional, but some features may not work without them.
Data is not sold under any circumstances.
Limited data may be shared only with trusted third-party services:
Firebase (Google LLC) – notifications, analytics, and crash reporting.
Google Play Services – app configuration and authentication.
Precise Location is considered sensitive personal data under laws like GDPR and CCPA.
The Privacy Policy clearly states that this data is collected only for core astronomical features (sun/moon position, compass alignment, AR visualization).
This data is processed in real-time, never stored, and never shared or sold. Users may revoke access anytime via device settings.
The app uses Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Analytics.
Anonymized diagnostic and crash data is sent to Firebase.
This is used only for bug fixing and performance improvements.
The app requests the following permissions, and each is explained clearly:
Camera → required for AR features to show sun and moon paths in live view.
Location → required to calculate sun and moon position data.
Notification → required to send reminders and app updates via Firebase.
The app collects the following data types:
Precise Location & Approximate Location → for accurate astronomical calculations.
Device ID & Advertising ID → for ads, analytics, and crash reporting.
Users can manage their Advertising ID preferences directly in device settings.
The app integrates the following SDKs:
Firebase (Google LLC) → push notifications and analytics.
Firebase Crashlytics → crash reporting and diagnostics.
Google Play Services → authentication and app configuration.
Users in the EU have the right to lodge a complaint with their local Data Protection Authority (DPA) if they believe their personal data is misused.
Contact details of EU DPAs are provided in the Privacy Policy.
The app processes data under the following legal bases:
Consent → for Location and Camera permissions.
Legitimate Interest → for notifications and app analytics.
