"HARDBOUND OF KNOWLEDGE"

Photo Essay by McCoy

The photo essay "Hardbound of Knowledge" uses black and white images to show how the balance between light and shade is achieved. Its design supports the story in portraying and demonstrating its authenticity and significance. Moreover, monochrome helps the audience understand the plot aspects of the story much better with fewer distractions. For me, the viewers will appreciate the beauty and lesson of the photo essay when there are few distractions.  Also, it will allow the viewers to focus on the story itself and find motivation and encouragement. In this way, the viewers will be able to predict the plot's outcome. The sequence of photos enables viewers to see how the story affects a character's life and goals in life and in learning.  Additionally, each photo and the design demonstrate the value of reading hard-bound books and invite the viewers to visit physically the library and read hardbound books.

We are all aware of how seriously modern media and technology affect libraries. Big changes are evident. Our hardbound books still have worth and relevance, but many people no longer recognize them. Frequently, our libraries were empty. So, the purpose of this photo essay's rhetorical scenario is to advocate the value of libraries and to address how modern media and the innovation of technology have affected them. I did employ rhetorical appeals by highlighting the importance of the objects (hardbound books) and its influence on the main character, and the emotion of the main character. Moreover, each photograph shows emotion and reason by the angles of shots, which contribute to a deeper meaning that everyone must capture.

Given the aforementioned details above, I can conclude that the photo essay achieves its goals, to capture the viewers' full attention and to advocate the value of hardbound books, because of the photos' inspiration.
