Jazz Combos & Improvisation Workshop (2:00pm-3:20pm & 3:30pm-5:00pm)

The Jazz Combo and Improvisation Workshop uses an ensemble setting to explore topics such as theory, ear training, solo techniques, and musical interaction. This allows students to directly apply what they learn to the music they are working on. The class is directed by Dave Robaire who also directs the jazz combo classes at AHS during the school year. The class will utilize songs from the Summer Jazz bands as material for exploring these soloing techniques, which will be a tremendous benefit to anyone signing up for both the Jazz Combo and "Basie" band or Jazz Orchestra courses. This group will also perform on the July 18 Finale Concert.
