Sam once lived in a 1966 VW microbus with split front seats. Without opening a door we'd freely walk from the front seats to the shag carpeted bedroom, slide open the sunroof and lounge in the hammock. He loved living in that bus. Today Sam's reliving his youth in SUIET. Sam isn't slipping to the rear as suavely as he did once. SUITE Hacks isn't saying if its RAM's wider seats or Sam's wider seat. Safe drivers always drive with two hands and the driver-side armrest is an obstacle to spinning the seat to face the dining room so we took the armrest off.

Caution!!!! Both front seats contain side airbags so don't alter the outboard armrests

The installation takes about 30 minutes, plus paint drying time

Special Tools:

• None

Parts we found in the garage

• Almond Rustoleum spray paint
• A hunk of plastic or metal strap
• Sponge or piece of foam

Installation

• Remove the two screws that attach the driver side RIGHT armrest (pic 1). The airbag is on the left side so leave it alone.
• Use the holes in the removed armrest as a template to drill holes in your homemade cover.
• Place 6 inches of duct tape in one side of the upholstery (pic 2).
• Stuff a piece of foam behind the upholstery to fill out the side. Note: the arm stretched the upholstery; it will relax and lay flatter in time (pic 3).
• Slide the duct tap inside, align the material and press firmly.
• Use the original screws and attach your homemade plate to cover the holes and cut.
• Save the armrest for when you sell your Aktiv.
