Sudut Kalisat X English Study Program Politeknik Negeri Jember in Echoes V1

Jember, Indonesia - Students from the English Study Program, class of 2023, at Politeknik Negeri Jember (Polije) successfully organized a talk show and exhibition on May 28, 2025, in the Soetrisno Widjaja Hall. The event, themed "The Language as Beauty of Hidden Bridge in Expression of Art," celebrated the multifaceted relationship between language and artistic expression.

The event aimed to explore how language acts as a bridge, connecting different forms of art and enabling deeper understanding and appreciation. The talk show featured guest speaker from Sudut Kalisat Community, RZ Hakim, who shared his insights on the role of language in their respective fields.

The ECHOES concept emphasizes that every work of art holds layers of meaning that can only be accessed through sensitivity to language. Language opens up a space for dialogue between the visible and the implied—between the artist's personal message and the free interpretation of the audience. In this context, language is not only a means of communication, but also a medium of search: a search for beauty that is not always visible on the surface, but resonates strongly in our consciousness. Thus, art becomes a mirror of the soul that speaks in a unique language echo for each individual.

To close the memorable event, the Selokan Belakang band took the stage, delivering a vibrant performance that captivated the audience. Bringing five selected songs, the band created an uplifting atmosphere that perfectly complemented the evening’s theme of language and artistic expression. Their energetic and heartfelt music provided a fitting finale, leaving attendees inspired and celebrating the power of art to unite communities. 

This collaborative event between Polije students and the Sudut Kalisat community beautifully illustrated how language and history intertwine to enhance artistic expression and enrich community identity, leaving a lasting impression on all who attended.
