If you want a durable, universal upgrade for your trailer's electric drum brakes to handle heavy loads and harsh weather, choose Succell 21035; if you need a precise dashboard replacement switch to restore factory braking control in your specific Chevy or GMC truck, choose FYAKSYAS 84108373.
These two parts sit at opposite ends of the tire maintenance and vehicle safety spectrum. One is a mechanical component designed to keep your trailer wheels gripping the road, while the other is an electronic interface that tells your truck how hard to brake. Confusing them is a recipe for frustration, but getting them right ensures your rig is safe and legal on the highway. This comparison cuts through the noise to help you identify exactly which part belongs in your toolbox today.
• Succell 21035: Offers robust corrosion resistance and real-time pressure optimization for 10" and 12" drum brakes, but it is strictly limited to electric drum assemblies on trailers, not vehicles.
• FYAKSYAS 84108373: Provides a direct plug-and-play fix for inconsistent braking and warning lights in 2016–2021 Chevy Colorado and GMC trucks, but it does nothing for the actual brake shoes or drums themselves.
• Who buys what: The trailer owner needing better wear resistance chooses Succell; the truck driver needing a dashboard module fixed chooses FYAKSYAS.
The Succell 21035 is built for the person who spends their time hauling cargo behind a pickup or SUV. It is a trailer brake adjuster specifically engineered for 10-inch and 12-inch electric drum brake systems. If you own a trailer with Dexter, Redline, Al-ko/Hayes, or Foreman components, this unit is designed to integrate directly into those existing assemblies. It is also compatible with hydraulic brake assemblies from brands like Demco and Dico, making it a versatile choice for various trailer setups.
What makes this component stand out is its focus on environmental durability. The design explicitly targets harsh conditions with excellent wear resistance and high-temperature deformation resistance. More importantly, it features salt spray corrosion resistance, which is critical for anyone living near the coast or driving on roads treated with heavy de-icing salts. You do not have to worry about the metal seizing up after a few seasons of exposure to moisture and grime.
This product is ideal for the DIY mechanic who wants to optimize braking efficiency without replacing the entire brake assembly. By adjusting brake pressure in real-time, it helps evenly distribute trailer pressure across the wheels, enhancing vehicle stability during stops. Installation is straightforward: you simply remove worn shoes and springs, clip the new adjuster between the shoes, and reconnect the return spring. However, if you are looking for a part to fix a dashboard warning light or an electrical issue inside a passenger car, this is not the solution. It is purely a mechanical upgrade for the wheel end of a trailer.

In stark contrast, the FYAKSYAS 84108373 is a specialized electronic component designed for the interior cabin of a vehicle. It is a trailer brake control switch intended exclusively for the Chevy Colorado model years 2016 through 2021, as well as compatible G-MC trucks. If your truck has lost the ability to send signals to your trailer or if the brake controller module is malfunctioning, this part addresses that specific failure point. It replaces the original part numbers 23145874 and 601226, ensuring a fit that matches the factory specifications.
This switch is the solution when you encounter symptoms like inconsistent braking responses from the trailer, a persistent warning light on the dashboard, or physical damage to the existing control unit. It also handles cases where the electrical connection fails, cutting off communication between the truck and the towed load. The installation process is designed to be accessible, locating the module at the dashboard on the left side of the steering wheel. This makes it a viable option for owners who prefer to handle minor electrical repairs themselves rather than visiting a dealership.
However, this part is useless if your problem lies with the trailer itself. It will not fix worn brake shoes, loose drums, or mechanical failures on the axle. It is strictly a replacement for the control interface within the vehicle. If you own a Ford, Toyota, or a non-GM truck, or if your Chevy Colorado is from a year outside the 2016–2021 range, this component will not work. It is a targeted fix for a specific electronic glitch in a specific line of GM vehicles.
• Best for mechanical wear and tear: Choose Succell 21035 if your issue involves the physical brake shoes, springs, or drum hardware on a trailer.
• Best for electrical dashboard issues: Choose FYAKSYAS 84108373 if the problem is a faulty switch, error codes, or a broken signal from the truck's cab.
• Best for harsh environments: The Succell 21035 is superior for salt spray and heat resistance, making it the only logical choice for coastal or winter driving conditions affecting the trailer.
• Best for specific vehicle compatibility: The FYAKSYAS 84108373 is mandatory if you drive a 2016–2021 Chevy Colorado or GMC; no other brand offers this exact electronic replacement.
• Best for universal trailer fit: The Succell 21035 works across multiple trailer brands (Dexter, Redline, Al-ko), whereas the FYAKSYAS unit is locked to one manufacturer's ecosystem.
• Best for ease of mechanical install: Both claim easy installation, but the Succell 21035 requires working under the trailer with springs and shoes, while the FYAKSYAS 84108373 requires reaching under the dashboard.
• Best for braking stability: If you feel your trailer swaying or braking unevenly due to old hardware, the Succell 21035 adjusts pressure to fix the ride.
• Best for restoring factory controls: If your brake controller light is on and the system isn't engaging, the FYAKSYAS 84108373 restores the signal path.
For the vast majority of people asking about these two items, the confusion stems from mixing up the truck with the trailer. I recommend the Succell 21035 if your primary goal is reliable tire maintenance for your towing setup. Its focus on corrosion resistance and mechanical pressure adjustment makes it a far more impactful upgrade for long-term safety. It solves the root cause of many trailer braking issues: worn hardware failing in bad weather. Conversely, I would only choose the FYAKSYAS 84108373 if you are driving a specific GM truck and the dashboard switch has failed. Since most towing problems originate at the wheel, the mechanical solution usually provides the greater value. No, this switch is explicitly listed for Chevy Colorado models from 2016 to 2021 and compatible G-MC trucks. It does not guarantee compatibility with newer model years or different truck lines like the Silverado.
The provided specifications list the part number and compatibility details but do not mention any specific warranty terms, guarantee periods, or third-party endorsements.
The product description states it is designed for quick and hassle-free setup by clipping the adjuster between brake shoes and connecting the return spring, suggesting a standard level of mechanical skill is sufficient.
